Compass Sport 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 10,000 miles

As stated in other complaints, this 2015 Jeep Compass (Sport) with multiple brake squeaks. It first started as just one front but now I hear it in the rear. This is only after sitting overnight or extended period such as work.

When reversing with no brake applied the noise happens and upon going into forward motion but only for a few rotations of the wheels. During 6mo oil change / wheel rotation, this was mentioned at the dealer (DONOVAN Dodge). was told that "DESSERT DUST" is causing the noise. Thinking of taking it for second opinion at BRAKE MASTERS or MIDAS to see if I get the same diagnosis. Vehicle purchased June 2015 and problem manifested at approximately 9000 -10000 miles but almost 1 year later.

The service department told me it was the type of brakes jeep makes that causes this awful noise. I was told I have the top of the line brakes. I was told I can spend $118 for less quality brakes and the noise will not be there. I went back again and was told because I live in the desert there is dusk in my brakes. I could spend money for the mechanic to clean the dust out but it would be a temporary fix. If that were the case, how come other cars do not have the same noise as I do? When I see other jeeps on the road, I make it a point to pay attention to the noise their brakes make and nothing!.
