Grand Cherokee

I do not know what caused the problem, but the blend air door on my 2004 Jeep Cherokee is broken and only blows cold air. The air does defrost the window or heat the cabin. This could lead to a driving problem if the windows fog up while driving.

Failure of climate control "blend door mechanism. This is the 2nd Jeep Grand Cherokee I have owned and it has happened to both vehicles. When it fails, you cannot control the A/C or heat on each side of the vehicle. Repaired on both vehicles at a cost of $1650 and $1500 respectively. The first vehicle is now broken again, which will cost another $1500-1700 to repair for the same issue.

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 4.0 litre engine, 4 wheel drive. Defroster/heater blender door gets stuck. Only blows air from the defrost vent. Very bad when you are trying to air condition the vehicle and you live in the desert as I do. Happens a couple times a week. Nothing to do but let it go. It usually goes back to normal cooling after about 2 hours or so.

2004 Jeep Cherokee - A/C blows cold only on driver side. Problem with "blender doors" very costly to repair/replace (over $1000). This is a very common problem in this model. Chrysler is aware of this problem and has done nothing about it. It should be recalled and repaired for free.

Climate control started blowing nothing but cold air out the passenger side vents. Not warning preceded the failure. I just got a complaint from a passenger that they were freezing one day. Research lead me to find it is a poorly designed blend door in the HVAC system of wj Grand Cherokee. A quote of over $1000 to fix a cardboard part!

I am having a problem with the steering, brakes, and the heat vent. When turning left or right, it makes this awful noise. When applying the brakes, the steering wheel and the front end begins to shake. I took the vehicle to get the brakes changed and they said the pads look fine. When I had the heater on, it was blowing cold air on the passenger side.

There were no events leading up to the failure that I am aware of. I attempted to use the heat this past winter, and nothing would blow out. No heat, no air, no defrost. My windows will not defrost. I took it to the dealership and they diagnosed it as broken blend doors. Needs blend door housing. They were asking around $1,000 to fix it. I researched this problem online and found a forum where many people were experiencing the same exact problem with the same model. This is a factory defect. Nothing has been done to correct the failure. I don't have this kind of money. My vehicle was only 3 years old. I contacted the manufacturer to no avail. This summer I, along with many others, will have no air to keep them cool.

The heater in my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee has stopped working. Turns out this is a very common problem with Grand Cherokee. The blend doors break because of defective plastic stop pins. Daimer Chrysler now wants to charge over $1,200 to repair this issue, even though it clearly is a manufacturer defect.

Passenger side heat does not work in our 2004 Jeep gr. Cherokee. It is related to a door within the climate control system. It sounds like there are many people who have had the same problem with this. Estimated cost to fix is $800-$1000. The windshield will not defrost because all that blows is cold air. This is a safety hazard that needs to be addressed. Daimler Chrysler needs to be responsible for these defective parts.

Grand Cherokee 8-cyl

The contact owns a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The vehicle is equipped with a dual control A/C, which allows the driver and passenger to control the temperature on their own side of the vehicle. The contact stated that the blend door on the front passenger side was defective. The door prevents heat from entering and causes the defroster to work only on the driver side of the vehicle. She took the vehicle to a repair shop and was informed that the failure was due to a faulty blend door. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was 48,000 and current mileage was 52,000. Updated 10/24/07
