Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.7L V8

paint microchecks, cracks, peels, & rusting everywhere My paint looks like SH*T!!!!!!!! After several hard rain/sleet/hail storms, I noticed little mark on the roof of my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Upon further inspection, it appeared that the pain was lifted from the body of the roof and starting to almost warp into several directions. I had never seen anything like this before on any vehicle, so I took it into my insurance carrier to have the look the vehicle over. I thought it was probably something caused by the unusual weather in my area at the beginning of the year. My insurance estimate was done at one of the better body and paint shops in the state, or at least they have the reputation for this. After looking at my jeep for a matter of 23 seconds, I was told that I was screwed. The paint and body shop told me they would not touch it because rust had set in. Because of this they weren't able to guarantee their work. My insurance adjuster literally laughed at me when I asked him if my insurance covers any of this. It was a new problem (one of many), so why wouldn't my insurance help me out> Why else pay them exorbitant amounts of money every month? I then took my Jeep into the dealership, which of course they turned me away because I was 30 miles past the warranty (bummer for me). Apparently, Jeep had tried something new with their clear coat and paint around the time my model was manufactured. This new paint process didn't take so my paint job is slowly beginning to "microcheck" (according to some eerily similar pictures on google). This means that my paint is beginning to separate very slowly away from itself. Once this happens, the paint will start to chip. Places where the vehicle is metal, it is now rusting very nicely. All the other places, the process is moving a bit slower. Unfortunately, this issue is not confined to any one area. It is EVERYWHERE!!!!!! No accidents, no operator error.... I have been so disappointed in this Jeep. I have always loved Jeeps, but after this one, I doubt I would ever buy another. After this issue with my vehicle, I am now beginning to see a ton of Jeep Grand Cherokees that are similar in year, popping up with this same issue. After all we did for Jeep, bailing them out of their financial crises and all, they treat us this way. Please let me know if you are having similar issues and or know how to stop this problem without it getting too bad. I am ready to just do this work myself since most reputable shops will not touch this.
