Driving at night, doing 50 mph when vehicle engine cut off - could not pull off road, apply brakes or steer.towed in. "repaired by dealership" only to occur again in 6 days when engine would not start at all. Again, sent for repair, five days in shop. Occurred again the very next day - would not start. Has been at dealership another week and they still have no solution to problem. Husband is totally disabled and we must have a dependable vehicle. We bought it used with only 37,000 miles on it so we thought it would be almost new. Cannot take a chance of the engine cutting off while on a busy highway!

Went to use emergency brake and the lever was free with no connection indicated. Took it to the dealer and the dealer said it needed a complete rear $900+ brake job and would not be covered by the extended warranty. Took it to a 3rd-party mechanic; cost $299 to fix because they had to dismantle the console and remove rear seats and remove rug to get at the cable. The cable was not broken, it was simply disconnected from the lever inside the console; there was nothing wrong with the rear brake assembly -- it did not need a brake job. Mechanic's observation was the only way the cable could have been disconnected is if it was disconnected at the brake site, allowed to become slack and when reconnected at the brake site the cable was pulled under the rug. The dealer had previously conducted work in the rear end the previous December and claimed they could not have done this. Note: This was the 1st time I had attempted to use the emergency brake since I bought the vehicle in 2007.

I purchased a 2007 used Jeep Grand Cherokee from kelly Jeep on 3/11/2010, with an odometer reading of 24,758 miles. This vehicle has stalled randomly seven (7) times since the date of purchase. It has been returned to the dealer's service department three times and each time they have not been able to duplicate the cause of the stalling. The stalling occurs after a stop and then attempts to proceed into a turn at low speed. It occurs more frequently when a right turn is being made. The engine stops and all electric energy are lost, just as though the ignition was turned off. Braking assist and power steering are lost. I have provided the dealer a document listing and observation of each of the seven events. Several have places me in a comprising position and if traffic had been heavy could have resulted in a serious accident. The vehicle always is able to restart after it stopped, the ignition turned off and placed in park.

Funny noise making right turn like wheel rubbing. Thumping noise at low speeds from brakes.

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact researched his vehicle and learned that there were two brake recalls related to his VIN. He was upset because he was not notified of the recalls by the manufacturer before purchasing the vehicle. There had been no failure to date. The recall numbers were unknown. The current mileage was 1,100.
