I own a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I received a recall on a part in July of 2014. It is now April 2015. There is still no part to replace this ignition switch problem. I have children that I need to drive to and from school. This vehicle is not safe. My husband has seen now at least 3 vehicles (same make, model and year) in car accidents. These car were completely totaled. There is no fixing them. One vehicle a car blew up because the ignition switch. This is ridiculous. Almost a year now, and there is still not part to fix this problem. And I can't sell my vehicle to anybody because then I could be sued because of the ignition switch recall. Your Jeep dealerships will not buy them back for what they are worth because of the ignition switch recall. I get below value offers. I will not buy Jeep again. But the fact that Jeep is taking so long to fix this issue is ridiculous. When people start dying because of it, then you will be sued for those deaths because that ignition switch recall was not fixed in a decent amount of time. I figured 6 months max. Its now almost a year and again still no replacement part. I'm disgusted at the fact that nothing is being done about this. No one seems to care or realize the potential danger this ignition switch causes. I wouldn't wish this upon anyone but it may happen to you just so you open up your eyes and realize what is really going on.

On four separate occasions my Jeep has randomly not started after being turned off and parked. The first time I had to have it towed to the shop and have it checked out. The mechanic could find nothing wrong: Starter, alternator, battery, & electrical systems all seemed fine. The car finally started with no repair work being performed. This has happened (3) more times since August, the latest being today. There is no rhyme nor reason to how or why it happens. I have since learned of the ignition switch recall by Jeep/Chrysler, and it supposedly affects the year and model of my Jeep. I have been told that the ignition switch recall may very well be the reason for my problem, but as of yet I have received no official recall notice for my car. When I am out driving and have to park I am now afraid to turn my car off for fear it wont start again. Likewise, I am also afraid the car is just going to turn itself off when I am driving. I called the Jeep dealership closest to me and was informed that they have not been officially notified as to how the recall process is going to work for the ignition switch issue, so they are unable to do anything for me at this time. They are also unsure as to when they will receive any information.

The day after I bought the brand new 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel, I unlocked the doors with the key fob, opened a couple of the doors and loaded my luggage, then I did the key sequence on the keyfob (lock+panic) to turn off the beep when you lock the car. After all this I tried to start it (correct starting procedure - wait for glow light to go out) and the starter cranked the engine with no firing at all. I repeat and wait 5 times over about 5 minutes, it failed to start each time. Finally after I have waited about 2 more minutes, I tried again and it fired right up like it is supposed to. I am concerned the car could fail to start again. Updated 01-16-08.
