Grand Cherokee Laredo

  • Automatic transmission
  • 153,216 miles

Multiple attempts to start the engine, only with jump. New battery in auto and new battery in remote key. Auto parked at home address. Each time need jump to start this vehicle.

Update from Jul 31, 2016: Afraid of danger when operating the auto, may loose electrical connection and cut off in traffic or interstate highway

Grand Cherokee Laredo V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 108,000 miles

Today is the 6th time this problem was encountered! Starting in March, parked for 10 mins while shopping-wouldn't start, jumped then started. Then at home 2x in driveway same thing (engine cold this time) but started with jump, thought "new battery?" Next time drove 1/2 mile & parked for 45 mins & wouldn't start-called AAA for jump & this time won't jump. Towed to shop, mechanic thought starter & put on lift to check, it started before diagnostic so he said I'd have to call next time it happened. Incidents getting closer together now, every other time I try to start. It happened again, this time w/ hubby driving-called mechanic, towed it in & it started again before diagnostic! That was 2 days ago, no problem yesterday morning-later in day no start & still nothing this morning. Used up all AAA calls, hoping it will start tomorrow-TRADING IT IN AS SOON AS IT STARTS!!!

Grand Cherokee Rocky Mountain 8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 82,000 miles

Problem started approx 2 years ago, about 50 thousand miles. Sitting on highway in traffic, car stops. Waited, car turned over. A year later, tried to start for work, would not turn but all lights worked, slight hum when key was turned the first time, when key was turned on successive tries it just was dead. Had to let sit all day then tried it and it turned over.

4 months later, same ordeal. Now it happens about every 2 weeks. Dealer has had it more than 2x for weeks to see if they could recreate problem, they cannot. I am at a loss-they have even filed a trouble ticket with Chrysler to no avail. This has been escalated through the dealership with no help. Each time I I just go pick it up after spending money on a rental and missing work with no fix. I have researched this problem and it is A HUGE PROBLEM on car boards with this model.

Dealer has went through all electrical, battery switched, key fob checked. It happens at different times of day, different weather situations, there is no rhyme or reason. Right this moment it is sitting again in a horse field where I will drive back to (about an hour) after approximately 12 hours it prob will start, AGAIN. SO FRUSTRATING BECAUSE THERE IS NO FIX AND I HAVE NO RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION. I will never buy this car again.

Grand Cherokee

  • Automatic transmission
  • 43,000 miles

I went to start my Jeep on May 30 and the engine would not turn over. I ended up jumping it two hours later and it started. Since then, this has happened 3 other times and when it does, the Jeep will not start anywhere from 2 hours to 12 hours. It will then drive great for 4 to 5 weeks. Very frustrating that I have a Jeep that does this, is no longer reliable but yet when I take it to the dealership, they have no clue what the issue is. They say to bring it there in failed mode but there is no telling when that will happen or where and such. And it also has to be looked at immediately when it gets to the dealership. So I wait every four to five weeks, have it towed only to tell me that Jeep is not sure what the issue is cause it restarts after a couple hours.

Grand Cherokee Limited V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 90,000 miles

My 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee has died twice in the last two months, approximately, I go to turn my Jeep on and all that happens is the dash board lights up, no click when I turn it on, just the lights on the panel. The first time it happened I had someone give me a jump, it started and I took it to Midas, where I purchased the battery and had them test the battery, it was good. The second time it happened, I had a friend give me a jump and it wouldn't start. Any ideas????
