The Jeep has electrical stuff happening sporadically and does not start but with power but after 3 to 6 attempts starts right up. I turn key all power and bells go off and it makes a humming noise and 1 click noise dash says ' transmission over temp' the Jeep is cold so not over temperature. I've seen a lot of post about recall and also about ignition switch or module. I've only owned for 2 years and dealer said car had no recalls when I purchased. This happens stationary and also after driving about 20 minutes to destination and when I went to leave it took several times before starting. This has been going on for last 3 days but few messages randomly popped in information center few times before this had at dealer on computer no codes said it was okay

Been having starting issues for at least 6 months. It starts sometimes and other times have to wait a few hours to a few days. The last 2 days won't start at all and has drained my less then a year old battery. 3 weeks ago windows will roll down or up whenever they want. Doors lock and unlock at random. I believed my car is possessed. Reading more and more I realized my tipm is bad. I have learned with all the random things with this Jeep that I will never buy one again. It is a very dangerous car and too many issues, with no resolution other then I have to empty every pocket to fix it. It stalls when driving it shifts into all gears slows me down when I'm on highway at a very unsafe speed. It is unreliable and I put my life my kids and others at risk while driving. Sadly, I believe Jeep doesn't care about safety since there is 1000's of complaints with same issues. It also says my air bags won't work because the tipm is bad.

Intermittent stalling issue. Initially the vehicle starts and runs fine. After stopping or extended driving duration the vehicle will random start stalling and check engine light flashes and dings. This will last for a few minutes sometimes and other times the entire trip. The last few times this has happened we were nearly rear ended and pulled over until it was somewhat drive able. I am terrified to drive it at this time for fear it will cause an accident. This has been an ongoing issue for a few years and has recently gotten worse. We've taken the vehicle to the Jeep dealership several times and have had numerous parts replaced but nothing has resolved the problem. The last trip to the dealer they said they could not replicate the described issue. With the use of a scope and code review, my husband has taken to replacing smaller, simple parts in hopes of a simple solution....spark plugs, 02 sensors and catalytic converters. Nothing has helped. Please help resolve this issue. Seeing all the other similar complaints, how many does it take to start an investigation or recall? it's a shame an accident it what it may take to attract attention to this issue.

Rear corners of the fuel tank corrode due to design of tank and tank mount, tank protection armour. Dirt, moisture, mud, road salt, etc get trapped in between steel tank and steel cradle and tank corrodes. This causes pin holes in the tank, and eventually larger holes, or larger areas of weak corroded metal.

Design traps crud between the skid plate and fuel tank. Over time, removes the paint and causes corrosion. Hole in fuel tank causes loss of fuel. Jeep is selling $1,650 replacement tanks at a rate of 5 per week. Others are trying to repair the tank. See Jeep forum: www.jeepforum.com/forum/F67/rusted-out-crd-tank-3106977/

The beginning of July the check engine light came on. Two days after that the check gas cap came on. I bought an after market cap from autozone. The problem didn't go away. I took the car to the dealer and they replaced the purge solenoid and esim module the check engine light was off when we picked up the car. The next day when it was started the check engine light and gas cap light came back on. Took it back to the dealership and they replaced the gas cap. We were told to give it a few days for the system on the car to reset itself. It didn't. so took the car back to the dealership. This time they found a small leak at the esim module that was replaced? told us they were ordering a new gas tank and we could drive the car until it was replaced. Now I hear air escaping out of the fuel tank from the gas cap and it will not accept fuel without being forced into the gas tank.

I was driving on the freeway in san jose, ca and the engine light comes on and a flashing red electric light also. I immediately noticed an immediate loss of power in the vehicles engine and when I pressed the gas pedal the Jeep didn't respond at all. When going up a hill the Jeep loses power and I have to downshift in to lower gears just to climb the smallest hills. I took the vehicle into the dealership and the parts department employee said that my swill values are bad. I found evidence that the engines in this 3.0L turbo diesel have been recalled in europe due to this design defect. The repairs are $5500-$6000 and their are no guarantees that this will not happen again. Why has this issue not been addressed here in the usa? I am a full time student with very little extra income. Because the engine light is on this vehicle will not pass a smog test. Basically I have a Jeep that in a few months will be non operational with a $500 an month payment.

Red "bolt" idiot light appeared, motor could not go above 45mph, no more than 16mpg. Pulled over immediately and tried to find a dealer or service facility. Vehicle could make it the 5 miles back to apartment. Searching the web, the Jeep/mbenz "swirl motor" apparently has a design defect. The oil vents back into the air, which causes sludge and tar, which then closes the swirl motor vents causing it to stop. With only 66K miles, here are the spectrum of complaints in North America and the uk. If this is certainly a design fault, this may cause other motorists quite a bit of money or cause an unsafe or panic situation for a driver with small kids stranded when this breaks. Please look into forcing the Jeep or Benz motor maker to help out owner with a fix or at least free sludge cleaning of the swirl motor of tar/oil. www.jeepforum.com/forum/F67/swirl-motor-resistor-mod-1397852/index2.html www.jeepforum.com/forum/F67/calling-all-2007-wk-diesel-crd-owners-527742/index3.html www.jeepforum.com/forum/F67/elephant-hose-installation-step-step-3-0L-crd-1228978/index4.html

I have received a notice that there is a recall on this vehicle, it has been over 8 months and the dealers are no closer to having a solution to fix the problem than when I was first notified. I understand that the dealers are as much in the dark over this recall as the customers. What can I do as a customer to speed up this process.

My only complaint is that after I received a notice months ago that there was a safety recall on my vehicle reference the fuel tank could experience a fuel leak during a collision, I have had no response from the capital Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership located in at 200 waterfield ridge place, garner, nc 27592. Phone number is 919-582-0202. I've called them twice and I was told the parts were not in and I felt like there was ample time for the parts to arrive.

I purchased my Jeep a little over a year ago used. I have had numerous problems since I have purchased it. First it was thought to be an electrical problem since the car would randomly shutter, would not want to start or just turned off. Battery was replaced multiple times, since it would leave stranded at any given time. The engine light comes on, but there has not been a solution to what it can be. I feel very unsafe in my car, and I am not sure what to do at this point. When I turn the car on, there is a loud hum or propelling sound coming out of the engine. When I come to a stop you can feel the car shake when the noise happens.

Started with traction control light flashing, then it slowed vehicle felt like brakes were on, gave it more gas and got no speed increase, pressed on the brake and then it seemed to surge and speed up on its own. This was unexpected acceleration &could have lost control. After this! it went back to normal driving. Next day took a 110 mile trip traveling 70 mph on highway no issues until I arrived at destination pulled into driveway and put in park and several warning lights came on ABS, esp, bas, &traction control light flashing & service 4 wheel drive... I had no problems until I stopped... when I started up to return home all the above lights stayed on backed up out of driveway, when I put it in drive and gave it gas it started to make a bad grinding sound like metal on metal a clunking sound and did no't respond to fuel peddle. I increased speed then I felt it release like park brake being released... it drove normal back home dash lights still on, ... 110 mile trip doing 70 most of the way... at home I used the built in vehicle scanner and got code U1417 which indicates front left wheel sensor... I replaced both sides same grinding sound, replaced the 2 back sensor... now I have no lights on dash and no grinding clunking sounds no sounds at all. But when I drive I get the traction control light flashing giving it gas I can no't accelerate above 25 mph, seems to release at lower speeds below 25mph but it feels like the brakes are on and something it decreasing engine power... this is a dangerous problem! when I pulled unto traffic and I could no't get up to speed I almost got into a broadside accident... I thought I had fixed the problem tested it in my driveway no dash lights on, and no grinding or clunking sound so what is it now?... is it some traction control problem seems to be a fathom problem a lot of Jeep owners are having!!

The vehicle experienced significantly reduced power while driving in freeway traffic. It was necessary to move to the far right lane and exit the traffic flow. This has happened on several occasions since. Several emissions systems parts were replaced and the problem has recurred. It is unsafe when the condition occurs in heavy traffic. The vehicle has a 3.0 litre diesel motor manufactured by Mercedes Benz.

I have had this vehicle to the multiple dealerships since I owned it. There is a two second delay when you push down on the accelerator. Dealerships can't find anything wrong. I replaced the catalytic converters, 4WD module. Every light comes on, check engine, check gas cap etc. It now gets horrible gas mileage and the transmission stopped working. This has been a lemon since day one and Jeep refuses to correct the situation. It is at the dealership now.

  • 60,980 miles
I bought my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland in June of 2011 with 52095 miles on it. In March of 2012, I experienced the first of many stalls happen to the Jeep with 60,980 miles on it. It has random, unpredictable stall outs that happened through out the year. It seems to stall when accelerating however not all the time. It's stalled while driving on the highway (mass pike or rt. 9) and on side roads. I have not observed any precursors to the stalling. When it stalls, it bucks and then the Jeep does not accelerate however the lights come on, just like what happens when a manual vehicle is stalled. These types of stall outs I experience do not happen all the time. What happens sometimes is the Jeep will buck, like it's going to stall, but it doesn't after slamming on the accelerator. After a stall out, I am able to restart the Jeep after a minute or two. The engine light has never come on, just the oil light. This Jeep has had the ignition connector and software replaced twice in over a period of two years. It's been replaced because of a stored code: Fcmcgw B2185. There are two other codes stored in the computer: PCM P0884 and ABS C12K. I have taken the Jeep to dan's Jeep in westborough, MA since the first stall out to the present. The recent stall out was Friday, January 11th. This stall out was a little different because "programming assess" (something like that) appeared on the dash with a blinking red light. Everytime I bring the Jeep to dan's, they give me the same response to the problem...they don't' know why this is happening and I can start replacing parts to see if it corrects the problem. I do not have the finances to just keep replaces parts to see if it'll correct this serious and unsafe problem with the Jeep and Chrysler has not reported how to fix this or made the step forward to fix it.

Vehicle stall out at various speeds, or when idling stationary. Comes on without warning. Seems these stalling problems are common with 5.7 hemi Jeep Grand Cherokee, even according to the dealer. This is a serious safety hazard as power steering and brakes are lost during a stall. An inoperative vehicle in a traffic lane could suffer a rear-end collision from this condition. Please help by ordering a recall from Chrysler company to remedy the problem. Nothing seems to remedy the situation and it keeps occurring.

Grand Cherokee

  • 64,500 miles
While driving on the interstate at 65 mph, the vehicle's engine stalled. I had to put the vehicle in neutral, turn the ignition off an back on to restart it. This first happened just after the 30 day warranty was over, as I bought the vehicle used in may of 2012. Since that time, the vehicle has stalled at highway speeds or when slowing down for a stop on dozens if not hundreds of occasions. The spark plugs, egr valve, ignition coil, PCV valve and map sensor have been changed to no effect. There are no meaningful diagnostic codes stored in the obd-II system. I feel this condition is very dangerous, as I never know when the vehicle will stall, causing a loss of power steering and brakes, and the ability to accelerate out of harm's way. It is my understanding that many of these same vehicles with the same engine are having similar issues. I can no longer let my wife or teenage son drive the vehicle because of this condition.
