The tire pressure sensors on my 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee were faulty, causing the TPM light to go on erroneously. I reported this issue while my car was under warranty, but the dealer said I just needed air. I had just checked the pressure and knew this was not the case, but the light was off so I let it slide. At around 40k miles, the light came on again and stayed on. I checked tire pressure regularly and found no problems. While at the dealer to repair a bad starter (another rant) I asked them to check the TPM again, and lo and behold, they found two of them to be faulty. They replaced them at a cost of $194.
I believe Chrysler knows these parts are deficient, as I have heard multiple complaints about these parts. I had the same problem with my 2006 Grand Cherokee, which used the same TPMs. Chrysler should be replacing these faulty parts at no cost to owners.
