Grand Cherokee Limited V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 36,000 miles

My wife drives the Jeep and rarely do I get to. Therefore, it hasn't been my priority to have it fixed (or repair it myself as what will probably take place). She turns the fan very low so as not to hear the high pitch whining when the fan is on. However, everyone that gets into the car asks, "What is that noise". It is extremely bothersome.

I have read on-line some other reports of this problem so it seems to be an issue common with this rig. Too bad it isn't a recall since it first occurred when the Jeep had 30+ k miles on it... past the warranty of course. :( Some say it is due to stickers in the ventilation system coming lose. The sound is as if a piece of plastic or paper is touching the fan blade as it spins.

Grand Cherokee LX

  • Automatic transmission

There is a high pitch noise that comes and goes with the AC/Heat is on. It is very annoying. Took it to dealer and after many test they were told by chrysler that this is a characteristic of the vehicle. Nice to know I paid $40k for a car with an annoying sound that can't be fixed!
