Grand Cherokee Limited 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

Bought a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and the Radio Software had a recall because it had some hacking problems. My radio and backup and all display on screen so I brought in for the recall to see if that was the problem so they was not related and it would cost 1100. to replace radio navigation because they could not do the software recall update because the screen was not operable.

So apparently this was not their issue. How does a 2014 Radio navigation backup camera go out on a new vehicle. To add to that my warranty was expired over 35,000. miles. Hope anyone can add comments to this.

Thanks and frustrated!

Before my radio system got messy, I really liked my Jeep and it was my dream car. The warranty is 36000 miles/3yr. But my Navigation system crashed at 38000 mils, what a perfect time. It happened when I drove the car to the airport and lost the signal since then. I did some research and thought it could be solved quickly when my Uconnect system get updated. However, I drove to my dealer and was charged $108 for "electronic diagnosis" and then I was told that they are not able to upgrade the system but have to replace the entire system by charging an additional $700 bucks. I maintain my car in perfect condition and there is not even a ditch, but the system was broken by itself and the charge is on me which is not acceptable, especially when the Uconnect system sucks and is listed as the top problems for Jeep. I really strongly suggest Jeep provide a decent solution on this problem, it damaged the reputation and loyalty from people like me. Yesterday, I found the clock is also not working and who knows what else will be happening to me due to this stupid system. My wife and I decided to trade it in and never buy Jeep again.

I TRIED over and over to get this issue fix. Being patient, believing the words of insurance from Tylor their Chrysler staff member as well from the Chrysler Jeep Repair Service Centers.

I left 20 plus voice message calls to Tylor and NONE were NEVER returned. I called back and spoke to Debbie another Chrysler staff member, I asked to speak to Tylor supervisor and my requested was refused and the call was disconnected. (I maintained a log-sheet) My video on YouTube (https://youtu.be/byMSeqUXhns) is one of many of the continuing "NO SOUND" issue.

On 03JAN16 around 1900hrs and again around 2200hrs is the recent occurrence of this issue. Total in all 37 times.

The most upsetting words the Chrysler staff members would say were, "If we can not regenerate the issue, then we can not fix it,: even when I provided my video thumb drive. Chrysler Jeep Repair Center had my vehicle for ONE - MONTH, "yes One-Full-Car-Payment," with their comment, "Issue can not be found".

I am seeking the voice from all Active Military Personnel, Veterans and other Chrysler owners to express their concerns. Chrysler can NOT treat us in this manner. We are the consumer and Tax Payer.

When Uconnect works, it can be great. What's odd, however is it's so buggy, that it may not be a matter of if, but when you will have a flare up. I had the car for 3 days when it started in July 2013. The last issues haven't occurred since May 5th 2014, (fingers crossed). In months of on/off flare ups, Chrysler did a remarkable job to continue to bill these issues as 'inconsequential' and that 'flashes' fix them. When they couldn't replicate what issues I had-and that I had photos of, and the 'system didn't show any codes' ( I love that one, that's a great thing to tell a 4 yr old) it must not have happened...it's laughable. Chrysler, Please-own up to your shortcomings. The profit on the 14 Grands must be terrific by now. Get some of the early ones in and FIX THEM CORRECTLY, REPLACE THE SYSTEMS WITH NEW ONES THAT AREN'T BUGGY.

THIS REALLY STINKS!!!

I have always used a Garmin GPS on the dashboard - in addition to the built-in Nav System. It has always worked fine in a 2004 Grand, 2009 Grand, and up until about October 23, in the 2014 Grand.. All of a sudden it is being blocked by interference generated by the built-in display system/nav system. It works fine until the nav system is activated.... then it is overwhelmed by generated electrical/electromagnetic radiation from the display. It happens the instant the Nav system is activated. I have demonstrated this with two different - identical model Garmin GPS's. The Garmin cannot acquire satellites due to overload from the interference which causes the Garmin to not function!

If I put aluminum foil underneath the external GPS, it SOMETIMES blocks the radiated interference from the nav system.

I have been telling the dealer about this.... they are being evasive... but have agreed to let me show them the problem.

This was not a problem until about Oct 23, 2013 at about 5700 miles. SOMETHING IS DEFECTIVE IN THIS NAV SYSTEM/TOUCHSCREEN DISPLAY.... WHEN COMBINED WITH THE OTHER PROBLEMS OF BUTTON LOCKOUT ON THE TOUCHSCREEN, IT IS CLEAR TO THIS RETIRED ELECTRONIC ENGINEER THAT THE NAV SYSTEM/ TOUCH SCREEN DISPLAY IS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. MY DEALER IS NOT BEING QUICK TO ACCEPT THAT ARGUMENT.

COME ON CHRYSLER... SINCE 1998 I HAVE PURCHASED FIVE BRAND NEW JEEPS FROM THE SAME DEALER.... YOU NEED TO STAND UP TO THE PROBLEM - QUICKLY - AND FIX IT!!!

Was out of town on vacation - went for a drive and noticed nothing worked - well the screen was on and I could see the radio info and I could use the tuner but nothing else worked. I could not turn the radio off, could not adjust the volume, pressed the media, compass and climate buttons - nothing! I was going to go to a local Jeep dealer because we still had a 6 hour drive home the next day however we just left it and went to our hotel room. The next morning when we started it up all was back to normal. I took it in the other day and was told the radio system was shot. They ordered me a new one so I have nothing for a few days. No bluetooth, no radio, no screen....
