Grand Cherokee Limited 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 58,000 miles

Take this vehicle for a lonnnnnggggggg test drive. It seemed perfectly fine when I test drove this vehicle for 30 mins before buying it.

More than 2 hours of driving, and this car is damned uncomfortable on the back. There is little to no support. The seats are hard. The sides bolsters flatten quickly, due to poor quality foam which disintegrates over time. I have a limited with the regular leather. The leather is fine, but the foam is flat as a pancake.

I am literally bent over in pain after driving for more than 3 hours. I still owe $27,000 on this vehicle and it hurts to drive it. I called Chrysler, and they say call the dealer. I call the dealer and they say they've never heard of the problem and have no clue.

I tried the seats in the brand new GC Saturday and they are still making them the same way! This " Luxury " vehicle is no luxury for your back and creates sciatica!

Grand Cherokee Limited Diesel

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

I purchased this vehicle as I have always loved the looks of the Grand Cherokee and we were downsizing from our Ford Excursion diesel. I still love 95% about this Jeep; however, the other 5% might just make me trade it in. I am 5'5 and roughly 170 lbs. The seats in this Jeep are very hard and uncomfortable. I am the primary driver and most times I feel like I have pain in the right side of my back just above my butt. It subsides after a few mins of walking around, but I've never had that with any other vehicle I have owned. I've had an Explorer, and Excursion, and several cars. At first I thought it was because there is no step to get in/out with but I cannot see spending $400 for a step. The high cost is due to it being a diesel...it's some sort of special fitting because of that. I also feel like I am not sitting centered when driving. It's almost like I am sitting with my hips facing towards the left. There are several buttons to try to adjust height, lumbar support, etc... but I have not found a comfortable position and I've had this Jeep for 5 months now. We recently traveled to North Carolina and after 3 hours I could not stand it any longer and had to get out and walk around. I even rode in the back seat so my 6' tall son could ride up front with his dad driving and the back seats are the same way. I hope we can find a solution as I don't want to trade it. I have no medical issues and have never had any problems in any of the other vehicles we have owned.

Grand Cherokee Limited 3.6lV6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

Explanation: My wife drove this vehicle for the first 60,000 miles and I just took over the vehicle when she got a new lease car. Complaint: The driver front bucket seat is extremely uncomfortable for me and I am a pretty big guy...6 feet 275 pounds. Additionally I have had both hips replaced but have never had any seat comfort problems with former cars. Many other people complained about their left leg and seat hurting with these seats, but my complaints are twofold: 1. My right butt and hip area really start to hurt after 100 miles or less, to the point where I start to use the speed control just to be able to move my right leg around and at the same time try to boost my right butt and thigh. 2. The left leg/foot dead pedal is not at an agreeable angle for resting my left foot. To use the dead pedal, the front part of my foot must intentionally be forced downward until it finally rests on the dead pedal. So between the right buttocks and my hip hurting, my left foot/leg, and lower back are also very uncomfortable and I have to stop every 100 miles or less to walk around for 5-10 minutes after which I can drive another 100 miles or less. I have tried using a too thick memory foam seat to no avail. Possible seat design issues: number one, the seat is too narrow as well as the side bolsters. My previous car, a GM Envoy Denali, had the best seats I have ever had. The seat bottoms were significantly wider, had a much wider side bolster, and had significantly more seat cushioning in both the seat bottom and side bolsters. Looking at the Grand Cherokee, much of the needed seat width is taken up by a fairly wide console, but the Grand Cherokee in all fairness is not as wide as my Denali. Number two as mentioned above would be to use a more soft seat cushion as well as bolster cushion. Number three would be to angle the front of the dead pedal more vertical or back toward the seats. In conclusion, I really like the Grand Cherokee's outstanding handling, powertrain, overall Mercedes looking interior and suspension. My only negative, but a big one, is a very uncomfortable front driver's seat which will probably necessitate my buying a new vehicle within the next 3-4 months.

Grand Cherokee V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 43,000 miles

I love the places this car will take my family (e.g. the off-roading capability). Unfortunately, to get to the places we want to go I have to drive anywhere from 1 to 6 hours in Colorado. From Day 1 when I drove the car off the lot I noticed that the driver's seat is not very ergonomic. I have a bucket-style seat. The left side of the seat seems as though it lifts my left thigh and rear-end up more than my right side. This forces me to overcompensate and I find myself holding my body up (tensing/tightening) constantly. There is no arm rest and very little back support. My muscles seem to be continuously engaged when I drive.

Over time this has really become a pain in the ass. Every time I get out of my car I experience a tight lower back, a "fatigued" feeling in my mid-spine/back, cramping in my quads and sometimes my calves, and terrible psoas pain (right and left). I've sought out physical therapy for these issues and we've been trying to get to the bottom of the problem since this past March when another long road trip left me hurting pretty bad. The PT hasn't really helped so I've desperately been searching for another fix(es). I am not overweight, I exercise, and I am not injured from anything else so those things aren't the problem.

Two things that seem to help: 1) placing a sofa pillow behind my back at the mid-spine area, and 2) driving with cruise control on as long as possible so that I can prop my right leg up somewhat parallel to my left. These self-help moves crossing fingers seem to have helped tremendously over the past couple of days. No psoas pain today. If anyone is aware of a Jeep fix for the crappy ergonomics of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, PLEASE comment.

I actually hate this car. I am so sorry we bought it. We haven't even had it 6 months yet. I had a fantastic 1998 Grand Cherokee TSi V8 that was awesome. Had to get rid of it because of a cracked frame!! We've got a mystery noise coming from the drivers' side that only occurs above 50-55mph. The UConnect just stopped recognizing my iPhone. So no music and no calls. Great, now I have no enjoyment at all in my car life. The car seems sluggish to me. It looks pretty but who gives a *&^% if the car doesn't work. We bought the car used (1 year old) with 11,500 miles on it, I'm convinced that the car has been in an accident although the car facts report doesn't show anything. The driver's seat is horribly uncomfortable. I feel like I'm sitting at an angle and I can't correct it. These cars ain't cheap. Is it so hard to make a car that runs? I can't wait to sell it. Really.

The front seats of the 2014 Grand Cherokee are very hard and uncomfortable. The cushion material is WAY too stiff, especially the side bolsters. The hard stitching cuts into the butt muscles and is impossible for long drives. I had to have a fitted cushion made that straps on the seat to allow me to sit on these seats. I'm 6'5 and 230 pounds and wish I hadn't bought this vehicle.

I am using 2014 brand new car about 8 months. The driver seat is very uncomfortable. It is giving a lot of pain to my ass and left leg. I am using a lot of deep relief cream to reduce pain but it is not helping at all.

I contacted to Jeep Chrysler to return the car but they told me it is not possible cause the problem is for design!! So I bought for $240 a leather cover but still did not reduced the pain. I started complain proses against Jeep Chrysler. They are telling me I can change the cover on my own, cost for $4000!

Please anyone, if you have any advise let me know?

I hope all of you who have this problem start complaining to OMVC so that they will get to force for free recall under warranty!

Grand Cherokee Overland 3.0L Diesel

The front seats are terrible! You won't be able to tell within the 1st hour but for sure shortly soon after. I'm not that big, 6' 185 lbs, the side bolster of the seat bottom digs in at the rear of your upper leg. Long trips are a no no in this vehicle, too bad because everything else is pretty good.

Love the diesel engine and the 1,200 plus KM range (740 miles). Unless I can correct this problem soon this vehicle will be traded as I drive 300 KMS per day (185 miles).

Grand Cherokee Limited 5.7L

The drivers seat for my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited is very uncomfortable and my left leg and thigh hurt significantly when driving the jeep. Also, the back of the drivers seat is too wide and does not adjust, and you slide in the seat when making turns. This is terrible for a brand new jeep paying over $40K for, and am strongly considering trading it in. The seat issue, in addition to the transmission complaints i have make this a tough sell for me to continue to keep it, not sure what to do and don't want to take a hit trading it in on something else, but also don't want to continue to have a brand new car I paid a ton of money for and now can't enjoy driving it. I actually get anxious just thinking about having to drive it now, ridiculous.

Driver seat blows!! My butt hurts even after short drives around town. I have not gone on a long trip yet but my butt hurts just thinking about it. If anyone has a fix please let me know. i am considering getting rid of this car but I don't want to take the hit on a trade in. Beware, take it for a long test drive, if you think the seat is hard do not buy the car.

Grand Cherokee Overland 3.6L Penstar

  • Automatic transmission

I bought a 2014 Grand Jeep Cherokee Overland about a week ago. I traded in my 2012 Toyota Tundra and wanted more techno stuff in an SUV, better mileage and better insurance premiums. I did all my studying and made my decision to purchase this jeep. Have saved gas, and about $50 less on my monthly insurance premiums.

Everything in this Jeep is Perfect! Except for the Driver's seat. My left upper leg (thigh) feels very uncomfortable because I feel that the seat is too small for me. I am 6.0 tall, weight about 235lbs. The seat hugs me and is a bit tight on the leg area.

Maybe I need to lose weight to fit into the seat itself. But when I sit in the passenger side or the back, its perfect. I noticed that someone also has posted a similar problem. Hopefully its just my weight issue. If not, then I have to trade it in for a more comfortable SUV with roomy seats.

I will report back within 3 months to give you an update. I will bring down my weight to 195lbs and will re-submit another report on the comfort(if any) on the seat complain.

I will be back....................

Grand Cherokee Limited 3.2L V6

my 2012 nissan altima has bucket driver seat as wide as 21 inches, the bucket driver seat on 2014 grand cherokee is just 19 inches wide. so during driving, my left thigh has to sit on the edge of the seat, really discomfortable. And because of this, the seat couldn't provide enough support to my body everytime when I make a turn.

I love grand cherokee. But the seat design is just OK. The seat I have on my limited is bucket seat, but still the bolster couldn't do what it is suppose to do, to provide a firm and good support to occupant during driving. better contour needed for seat
