The metal/plastic re-tractor on my driver seat belt cracked on it's own and no longer retracts. Basically I have to drive around with no seat belt. Came into the dealer and it's not covered by any type of warranty I assume it's going to take a death or serious injury to get a recall due to lawsuit.

Update from Nov 19, 2019: Update. Even with an extended warranty, Jeep refuses to fix anything restraint or emissions related. To replace my seatbelt it would cost me $300 for the part and $250 to install. I tried to order the part online but it's hasmat so i had issues. My final fix was to just take a dremel and shave the plastic down a little and then filed it smooth. Works great for now but I'm still upset they won't help me

My wife gets in the car and all at once the seat belt will not tighten up on the chest. This car is not safe because it is supposed to lock up and it doesn't.Tthat is a safety issue. Many complaints that I'm reading, it should be recall for that because we are not safe.

The driver side seat belt is not retracting. I am out of warranty and my extended warranty doesn't cover it. This is a 2014 and it seems to be a common issue with other people. Why is this not a recall?

Grand Cherokee Limited 3.6L V6

The front passenger seatbelt all of a sudden started to not retract. It came to a point where the passenger would strap in the belt and they would have enough room on their lap for an additional 2 people in order for belt to feel secure. When I finally got it to retract back in, I couldn't get it out again. In order for a passenger to sit comfortably while wearing the belt, they would have to recline the seat all the way back. I Reached out to 2 different Jeep dealers in my area and received a quote for about $540.00 before taxes. I was also told if my vehicle was under 60,000 miles, I could have gotten the work done for free. My luck right?!

It is ridiculous that I have to pay about $600 for something that is an apparent issue for a lot of other JEEP GC owners. There should be an open and active recall for this as it is a safety issue! To make matter worse, my driver seatbelt feels like it is also on its way out because it is slowing retracting after I take it off.

I love my JEEP, however, the company needs to get their act together and realize that this a serious issue that can and will result in serious injury or death due to a faulty seatbelt retractor that should be broken after 5 years!!!!!

Ready to head out on a road trip and the passenger seat belt locked! Had to pull off to side of road to help my sister get out of the seat belt, and then to help retract it. Purchased additional warranty and was advised this is not covered. Very serious safety issue as well as AGAINST THE LAW to drive without a seat belt!~ very dissatisfied with Jeep and their handling of this situation.

Passenger side seat belt will not retract. Plastic guide cracked at shoulder height adjuster. Several hundred dollars to replace. This should be a recall due to several people having the same issue. I have never known of a seat belt breaking.

Started with the passenger belt first, then a year later the driver's side experienced the same defect. Tested the retraction system and that still works fine, but the belt gets pinched in the shoulder point due to a crack in the plastic material and prevents it from retracting. Jeep said they would not cover it and would cost us $1000.00 for parts and labor. We kept people out of the passenger seat after that seat belt broke, but now we can't even drive the Jeep safely until we find $500 to get at least the driver's side fixed.

Never had this problem in any of the Toyota's I've owned and I've put close to 200,000 miles on each one. Seat belts should out live the car. When you have a common problem with a safety feature like this, the manufacturer should be all over getting it fixed to avoid lawsuits, but clearly Jeep cares more about money in their pockets then they do for customer safety. Will be looking into a class action lawsuit to turn this problem into a recall, as that should have happened a long time ago.

I bought this Jeep used, from a Dealer for 24,000.00 bucks. 6 Months later the passengers side seat belt "sometimes" would not retract. Finally it stopped working. My WIFE can not ride with me, unless she's in the back seat. I took the Jeep to the dealer and was told that I need a new retractor assembly for the seat belt. It will cost me over $400.00 to fix THEIR problem. What an insult.

I would never recommend a GMC product ..... for those who are reading this.. Buy a Ford.. .life time warranty for a safety issue like this. Adding SALT to the wound.... they can't even tell me when a part for my Jeep will be available. This is outrageous. This is my 3rd Jeep and will be my last. Unfortunately my son just purchased a Jeep. I told him to sell it if he can. Cut your losses while you can. I asked the dealer "Who do I sue?" if we get into an accident because JEEP can't fix it..... obviously they threw their hands in the air.

WENT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WASN'T ANY SEAT BELTS TO BE FOUND TO REPLACE MINE. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. MY WIFE HAS TO SIT IN THE BACK SEAT BECAUSE IT IS ILLEGAL TO NOT WEAR A SEAT BELT IN MAINE. I AM VERY IRATE BECAUSE OF THIS. I HAVE OWNED A JEEP PRODUCT FOR OVER 20 YEARS. I WILL THINK LONG AND HARD ABOUT BUYING ANOTHER ONE. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS, START MAKING SOME THAT WORK.

The passenger seat belt doesn't retract. I consider this a primary safety issue since 98% of the time I am in the passenger seat and my husband is the driver. In the event of a crash the passenger would go through the windshield.
