Vehicle exhibited sudden unintended acceleration on two separate occasions, and caused an accident involving property damage. The vehicle, which had been on cruise control, was completely stopped in traffic for 30-45 seconds on I-95 in South Carolina. The car suddenly surged forward while the driver yelled at me 'my foot is on the brake'. it subsided once, then surged ahead again, leaving skid marks and colliding with the vehicle in front of us. It then surged a third time, ploughing that car ahead, before the driver could shift the transmission into park

I was stationary(in "park' mode), sitting in my vehicle making a bank transaction at the drive thru at wells fargo located at 505 round rock ave, round rock, tx. Suddenly the Jeep accelerated on it's own, I pressed the brakes and it wouldn't stop. See also ODI 11140468. I traveled maybe 15-20 yards braking, before I crashed into the walk up atm. Exact cause? unknown at this time.

The contact owned a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While the vehicle was engaged in park, it unexpectedly accelerated to 20 mph and crashed into an atm machine. The contact mentioned that the vehicle would not come to a complete stop when the brake pedal was depressed. The air bags deployed. A police report was filed. The contact sustained bumps and bruises along with three fractured ribs on the right side and an injury to the right leg that required medical attention. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard where it was deemed a total loss. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,240. See also ODI 11141658. Update 10/18/18

Throttle has stuck on full throttle 2 times while accelerating on city street. The only way to slow vehicle down was to put transmission in neutral and apply brakes hard. Very scary situation! other owners have had the sane problem. Consumer stated other owners have told me they have experienced stuck throttles also. 2017/2018 Jeep Cherokee srt with 6.4 litre hemi engine and 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee trackhawk with supercharged 602 hellcat hemi engine. I know of one person that has filed a claim with the NHTSA. I've attached 2 pictures of my throttle pedal and floor mat. When fully depressed it does not touch the floor mat. I pushed on it a hundred times and it did not stick. I do not believe the floor mat is the problem. I had it at the dealer and they could find nothing wrong. Very scared to drive. Updated 10/18/18

On occasion, when the accelerator pedal is pushed all of the way to the floor, it would get stuck under the floor mat. This has happened on more than one occasion. It is very dangerous when it happens because the vehicle is at full throttle and the brakes will not overcome the engine. I've resolved the problem in my vehicle by removing the floor mat. I called Jeep cares and warned them of this problem and they said to take to a dealership to have it looked at. They've known about it for a couple of weeks. I'm reporting this with the hope that you will look into this and get a warning out before someone gets injured or killed. We were using cruise control in our new Jeep. As we were approaching a red traffic light, we tried to disengage the cruise control by using the brake. The vehicle would not stop. The brakes were completely engaged and locked, but the vehicle kept moving forward into oncoming traffic. Thankfully, the driver of an 18 wheeler saw us unable to stop and swerved. His swerving and our steering caused us to be stopped by his hind wheel. If the other driver had noticed us one second slower, we would have likely been dead. There was $11,121.91 worth of damage to our brand new Jeep with 3,500 miles on it. This Jeep is not yet part of the recall for the exact cruise control issue outlined. We are filing this, because we do not want another owner of this model to not be as lucky as us and we would like to not be out of pocket for the damages. Jeep flew someone down from Michigan to check out the vehicle's black box and said they didn't find anything. We have the contact information of the truck driver who can attest that the brakes were fully engaged and the vehicle continued to move. We are fortunate to have all walked away unharmed physically, but the monetary pain cuts deep.
