Both rear power windows on my 2002 Jeep Liberty have failed to operate. They just fall down into the door and I have to prop them up with different devices. So far windows have failed 2 times on one side and 1 side on the other. The safety issue to me is someone getting into my car when the window falls into the inside of the door.

I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty and I have to replace a window regulator for the 5th time. Every in every instance it has been the rear windows. In one instance I was driving down the highway and the window came down. I have two children in car seats and the last thing I need is for them to throw something out or for something to happen to them B/C the regulator failed while I'm driving down the hwy. Other times it was parked in the driveway and when I looked out of my house the rear window was down again. The regulators were just replaced on 6-06-10 and now it is 08-26-10. The new regulator didn't last very long, huh. After all of the problems that I 've had with this Jeep I will never buy another one!! I have noticed on different online forums that this seems to be a very common problem for thousands of Jeep owners. For some reason nobody seems to be addressing this situation. We spend lots of money on vehicles and for their upkeep! the least Jeep can do is fix the problem or they may have a bigger problem ahead when everyone decides to stop purchasing Jeep. Since I have already decided to do that guess that's one consumer down the drain for Jeep! oh, the other thing....I live in tx and it was 107 degrees the other day....would you want to have a problem with your window in this heat....renders the ac virtually useless! I don't need or want my children sitting in a hot vehicle and risk potential heat associated problems B/C of a crappy product! if it occurs at home then I duct tape it before I leave.

The contact owns a 2002 Jeep Liberty. While driving approximately 10 mph over a pothole, the driver side rear window fell into the door panel. The contact was unable to open the rear driver side door from both the interior and exterior of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the window regulator motor was replaced. The failure recurred numerous times affected all except the front driver side window. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer as well as independent mechanic where the window regulator motor was replaced. The doors of the failed window motors would not open until the motor was replaced. The failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 85,800.

02 Jeep Liberty window regulator. This is the 2nd time this has happened to my vehicle and based on the forums I have searched it has happened to 1000's of people. This could be a potential safety problem as the window just comes down on it's own when the cheap plastic part breaks inside. If a child were next to the window, they could unbuckle seat and possibly get outside vehicle. In which case they could be hit or the parent could be distracted and wreck while trying to get child back to safety. There is no warning this is going to happen and all Jeep would need to do is replace the part with a metal part and not cheap plastic. I do not know of any cases but would it not be better to try an fix this problem before we have a tragedy?

2002 Jeep Liberty window rear driver side falling down and will not come back up. Have replaced the regulator in 2007 and 2009. Now I will have to replace again. This is a defect and safety issue. Someone can get right into your car if you can not get this fixed right away. I have also had to replace the rear passenger window regulator in 2008. I have seen numerous complaints about this on the internet. This has been going on for several years with the Liberty. Chrysler should fix this for free and not make the customer pay for a defect. Does someone have to get killed in a robbery or something before this issue is fixed.

Jeep Liberty. Rear windows regulators continue to fail. The windows just fall into the door well while not in use. I rarely open those windows and they just fall out. I have now replaced them four times in the past three years. The dealer states there is no recall on this defect. There is certainly a defective part as I have read over and over of this situation occurring with all makes of the Jeep Liberty.

I own a 2002 Jeep Liberty and have had to replace the window regulator 4 or 5 times. Driving down the road the window just falls. This is very dangerous because it is shocking and can cause a wreck. The window falls all the way down into the door and there is nothing that you can do about it. You must repair immediately because your vehicle is not secure- theft, rain etc. If the windows are down the thump thump of the rear tires is excrutiating to your ears. Each repair cost $350. To $500. Chrysler and the dealerships are fully aware of this problem and refuse to do anything. They admit that this is a bad design (a plastic clip holds your window up) the part is only warranted for 12 months. On the Consumer Affairs website alone there were 93 complaints of this happening. Most owners are just like me and have had to replace the regulator multiple times. Chrysler should be made to recall any vehicle that has this regulator. No other parts are available except for mopar and the part has cost me $137. To $170. Just for the part- no labor. This has happened to me while under warranty and out of warranty. Now both rear windows broke within two days. I repair and next year the same thing will happen. I and any other Jeep owner is keeping Chrysler and mopar in business by these repairs.

I see tons of Jeep Liberty owners have had the exact same problem I called Chrysler to complain, and they told me that there is no recall and I am just going to have to pay to repair it. While I was driving on the freeway, the right rear window on my 02 Jeep Liberty fell down. This, in turn, caused the rear door to ┐deadbolt┐ itself. That is, it will only open 3/4 inch and then the latch catches on something. I'm suspecting a broken window cable may be keeping the lock mechanism from fully releasing the door. This suspected design defect in the window regulator mechanism has made the right rear door unusable. If the window fell when passengers were in the back seat, they would have been trapped in the car. As you need to open the door to take off the interior door trim to get to the window regulator mechanism, the ┐deadbolt┐ state of the lock is preventing the repair to be made.

We drive a Jeep Liberty 2002 which we purchased at carmax in arlington, tx in 2006. Despite having numerous problems with electric windows for which they had to replace under the extended warranty, we began to notice a loud popping sound coming from the front end when we make a hard left or right turn. We took the car to a service mechanic, diagnosed cv axles, ball-joint problems. Attempt made to correct it in several occasions, but the problem re-occurred and getting more worrisome by the amount if time it happened in a day and 7 days/week. We also take noticed that we're not the only one (Jeep owners) with this problem, we are tired to take the Jeep to repair mechanics and truly, we feel unsafe to drive it on the freeway. My rear windows have broken (regulator) now 4 times. I hardly ever use these windows and then one day one will just fall down and it never fails that within a day or week the other will follow. The last time I had one of the windows fixed it was only 4 months ago. If the dealer wasn't granting me some form of goodwill warranty it would be costing about $600 every time the both get fixed. The part is obviously not working and needs to be recalled!!!!!!!!
