The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that the vehicle windows failed to open and close. The contact called a local dealer (berwick Dodge located at 1127 pine St berwick, pa 18603) where it was diagnosed that the windows needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was advised of the failure, but did not offer any assistance. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 52,000. The consumer stated there was an issue with the power lift unit due to a broken plastic clip that held the window up. This causes the window to slip down into the inside the door frame. All 4 of my windows have fallen in to the door. Each happened at a different time. Two while I was driving 75mph down the highway and could not pull over. The cost to repair the defective window motor is $450 each! apparently this is a very common problem with this model and year. I have seen thousands of complaints online. I have temporarily held the windows up with zip ties. I am very worried about the safety of this. None of my windows roll down now! I have been in a roll over accident (in a different vehicle) where it was necessary for me and the passenger to crawl out of the window to exit the car. There would be no way for me to escape if my doors were damaged. What is Jeep doing about this obvious defect?

I am writing about the window regulators in a 2007 Jeep Liberty. Several years back, there was a recall, and within the time frame of that recall, we had 3 window regulators go bad and get fixed. We just had the 4th window slide down and now Jeep is saying the warranty is no longer in effect and they will not fix it. It shouldn't matter when the problem happened, a problem is a problem and it shouldn't have to happen within a certain time frame to get it fixed.

I have had the exact same problem as NHTSA id # 10615513. My window went down and wouldn't go back up. When I originally purchased this vehicle, I had taken it back for a problem w/that window, but they said they found no problem. I ended up having to go pay out of pocket for an entire new window system, so I could get the window to roll up. I do believe this seems to be a recurring problem since others have complained also.

Passenger window fell into door when passenger exited vehicle and closed door. Car was not turned on at the time. Car is at Jeep dealership in batavia, oh for repair. This is the 7th time I have had a window regulator/ lift plate fail. Seventh!! Chrysler issued an extended warranty in 2010 for select models of Jeep Liberty vehicles that expired in March 2014. I have filed a complaint with Chrysler. My window issues have not been resolved! I am exhausted from not only fighting with Chrysler about these defective parts, but also from the inconvenience of having these windows fail. I have driven for hours in the rain with a window open and I have driven for hours at subzero temps on an expressway in a blizzard with a window open. And I have had to drive around with plastic taped to my window (looks horrendous) and risk having personal affects stolen due to my inability to secure my vehicle. I expect tires and brakes to wear and hose and belts to fail over time. I do not expect to pay tens of thousands of dollars for a vehicle that has faulty windows!! there should have been a recall issued and all these windows fixed correctly instead of making owners spend thousands in repair bills fixing the same [xxx] windows over and over with more defective parts. The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Liberty. While driving approximately 25 mph, the contact heard a loud banging sound near the rear seats in the vehicle. The contact discovered that the rear passenger side window had suddenly dropped down into the door panel. The failure previously occurred on all four side windows for which the dealer stated that the window lift plates and/or lift regulators malfunctioned. The windows were repaired each time, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was repaired for the same failure on eight separate occasions. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 17,000.

Window would not go back up. The dealer told me it was the window regulator cable, it broke, and the window regulator would have to be replace, but it not covered by warranty. It is taped up until I can a afford the replacement $450 + labor. Unreal. It should be covered. Its the first time it happened and I hope the last for me.

2007 Jeep Liberty - power window regulator failure: June 3 - 2014 - the right front power window regulator failed and became inoperable. On July 10, 2014, the right rear power window regulator failed, and the window rolled down on its own while my daughter was operating the vehicle at highway speed. The window became inoperable and could not be rolled back up. In the service tech's report, the window regulator "came apart." Chrysler-Jeep had extended the warranty on this part to seven years from service date through March 7, 2014 or one million miles, whichever came first. Therefore they refuse to cover the repair cost under warranty. I am sending this report because I believe these two incidents have identified an important safety issue. Because the failure causes the window to roll down on its own and become inoperable, if it does so at highway speed or in inclement conditions this could present a safety hazard. Also the fact that two different window regulators on the same vehicle failed in consecutive months roughly one month apart indicates to me that there may be a systemic problem with this part, and all such parts should be investigated.

Glass lift plate& motor have both given out at least twice in less than 2 years. It costs over $200 to have the dealer fix it. The window just falls for no reason. Come on we need a break. I don't know about the rest of the world but when I have to pay to fix something and it is very expensive I expect quality.

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that while driving 20 mph, the rear driver's side window independently opened. The contact was not able to close the window and the window switch was unresponsive. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who stated that the power window regulator would need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred on both passenger and rear passenger side windows. The contact had to replace both window regulators. The contact also stated that the windows would not close evenly. The vehicle was repaired both times. The manufacture was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,000.

Window regulators replaced on three separate windows starting in 2010, and one in 2013 and now 2014. Dealership said only lift plate has extended warranty, not the regulator. Yet my dealership (two since 2010) told me it's the regulator. It's only a matter of time before the 4th one goes out. I'm sick of paying for this when two of the windows that broke I have never rolled down except to clean. And one regulator broke while the dealership was cleaning it. If it breaks upon cleaning, that is a big issue and I want it covered and reimbursed for my costs..

Three power windows, driver, passenger and back passenger side have gone out due to motor failure. One was replaced but the window still tilts when lowered and raised. All three windows had same issue prior to failing. Apparently this is a widespread problem and I am beginning to wonder why there is no recall.

I purchased my 2007 Jeep Liberty on Friday. Two days later my daughter rolled the back window up and it came off track. I took my Jeep back to the car lot, they paid to have the window fixed at a port city glass. I was told it was the regulator and that this is a common issue seen with the Jeep Liberty. The second incident occurred last year while my husband was in the front passenger seat and rolled the window up. The window would not roll up and made noises. I took the Jeep back to port city glass for an estimation. I was told it would be approx. $230. I did not have the money for the repair and opted to block it off for now. I have had window issues with my Jeep since almost day 1. the is a very inconvenience on me and my family.

I was driving back to salisbury, md from Washington DC when I heard wind coming into my Jeep. I checked all my windows in be sure they were up but the noise continued. When I visually checked the windows I found the driver side rear window all the way down. I pulled over to check it and found that the window would not roll back up electrically. I had to drive 3 hours with the back driver's side window down. I had this window repaired for the same thing 2 years ago and now again. Just this year in April I had to spend money to fix the driver side window due to the same problems. And each time it was the regulator and only once did Jeep refund me my money. The other problems is the gas. When the Jeep is full it doesn't cut off, the gas spills all down the side of the car regardless.

I bought my Liberty when it was a year old from a dealer. One month later, the drivers side window fell into the door. It was still under warranty, the dealer fixed it with new parts. A year ago in June 2012 the rear window dropped into the door. The rear windows are never even used. I had to pay a mechanic to raise it up and hold it up with duck tape because the regulator and repair is going to cost over $400!!the window would slowly start to drop before it finally went into the door completely when I was driving and the noise from the outside was so loud I thought I was having a flat tire and had to pull over. Not to mention the constant attention I had to pay to make sure the window was still being held up with the awful looking duct tape! so angry and disappointed with Chrysler. I read online of so many other owners having this same problem. I could never risk putting a child back there because of this risky problem. This is a complaint about the fuel issue that I have seen on here already.when I go to put fuel into the gas tank, it will not stop at the end as it's filling up. It just overflows. I would say at least a few cups of fuel flows down the side of the Jeep and down into the bottom of the vehicle and wheel well. I know that at some point it will lead to rust/corrosion among many other issues. I really wish this could be looked at and possibly fixed by manufacturer. It doesn't make sense that there are more than enough complaints about the same issue, with no help from the manufacturer. I also have the same problems as others with the windows. The regulator has a piece that breaks and then the whole regulator has to be replaced. This has happened 3 times already on different windows. Lastly, I just recently had an issue where the Jeep wouldn't start. The console lights and guages work fine and it acted like all was well, but the car wouldn't turn over when the key was turned. The result was the ignition switch actuator pin. It has a piece that breaks off and when that happens, the Jeep wont be able start. It isn't an easy fix for someone who isn't mechanically capable. Again, this is an issue that has happened to many people and honestly the manufacturer should do something about this. I could complain about more, but let's just leave it at that.
