When I fill up my gas tank, there is always a moderate amount of gas that comes out and goes down the side of my car. This has occurred at multiple different stations with all octane levels of gas. It ejects about.1-.2 gallons of gas from the fuel entrance. This occurs right before the automatic shut-off closes on the fuel pump.

I have 2 problems number1 is the gas mileage it gets the mileage it says on the internet but I feel that is bad fuel mileage I had a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a V8 and got 25 miles per gallon on the high way you would think that a V6 would just as good or better but it is not.second problem is fuel spillage evrytime you fill up I have tried different things to try and stop the spillage but to no avail. I feel there should be a recall on this problem but there is no recalls for a 2008 Jeep they had recalls on some older Jeep but not mine it would be nice to see something done about this problem. While pumping gas, the pumped clicked (stopped) and gas spewed out the tank on vehicle, my hands, pants and shoes. This happened on more than one occasion. Today, 1-31-2015, gascap, indicator light came on. I tighten cap however, indicator light still on. Purchased a new gas cap but the new cap did not resolve the issue.

When pumping gas, the gas pump shuts off as expected however gasoline spews out of the Jeep's filling system. Tried different pumps same results, this occurs without "topping off the tank". this I a serious safety hazard with gas spraying on my face, clothing and overflowing on my shoes, hands, vehicle and ground. I have been yelled at by gas station clerks because it is a safety hazard.

Bought this vehicle used. Each of the two times we have filled up the tank with gas the tank has overflowed spilling an estimated pint of gas out of the tank and down the exterior of the vehicle and onto the ground. Each time gas has spilled onto the driver as well. Researching this issue it appears that replacing the gas tank resolves this issue. I feel this is a dangerous safety issue that should be addressed with a recall. Ref. Service bulletin no.: sb-14-003-13, NHTSA id number: 10052148.

2008 Jeep Liberty 4X4 purchased used with 18,000 miles. When re-fueling the pump will shut off automatically and gas will burp out every time. Sometimes it is a lot of gas and very dangerous. I've seen this issue all over the internet. Why isn't something being done about this?

When filling the Jeep up with gas, no matter if the pump handle is locked or I'm manually pumping, at multiple gas stations I have experienced overflow. It runs down the side of the car and all over the ground. It has happened numerous times at different stations. It seems dangerous, because this could be a fire hazard, and is an environmental hazard. I have seen several similar complaints on line, but when I checked with the dealer, I was told that they have not come across this problem.. I try to pump as slow as possible when I know it is near full, but still get gas coming out every time that I let it go until the pump stops. I am not filling past the first pump shut off. This is obviously a problem that the manufacturer should be fixing.

Approximately 1 in 3 times I fill the gas tank the auto shutoff fails and spews gas out onto the vehicle and the ground (approx 2 cups). I was told by Jeep that the gas tank must be replaced due to the failure of an internal sensor at a cost of $600. After a brief on-line investigation I note that this problem has been reported by at least scores of other Jeep owners. This is more than an inconvenience due to discharge of a flammable liquid. In my 40 plus years of driving I have never experienced this problem and therefore believe it to be a manufacturers defect issue. This occurs at varied gas stations and therefore is not associated with faulty equipment at the stations.

While filling up my 2008 Jeep Liberty after the gas shuts off at the pump there is gas over flow from the tank all over the side of the truck and the ground below. I do not over fill my gas tank and I even try to stop before the tank is completely full, yet there is gas that flows back out of the tank after filling up my vehicle. This is a continual issue with the vehicle when I fill it up and I fill up at least 2 times a week due to the long commute that I have. I find that this is a hazard because I put my 4 year old daughter in the vehicle using the driver's side rear passenger door and the gasoline that has spilled is usually still present no matter how carefully I try to clean it up and off of the vehicle. Also there is always gasoline on the ground at the pump after I am done pumping gas which cannot be good for the environment or the next person who has to get gas after me.

When filling the Jeep up with gas, no matter if the pump handle is locked or I'm manually pumping, it will spew gas out all over. This gets on me, all down the side of the Jeep. I have contacted my local Jeep dealership and asked about the problem. The lady in the service department looked my VIN up and said no, there was no known problem. She said I could bring the Jeep in and let them look at it. Of course, this will cost me $85 for a diagnostics test. This gas spewing all over has happened many times and at different stations. I find it hard to believe there is not a known problem. After researching the internet, I find I am not the only one experiencing this problem. I hope they wake up soon.
