Air bag sensor harness under seat is exposed and prone to break when rear seated passenger(s) are in vehicle. I have replaced the wiring connectors/wiring harness 3 times. One on drivers side and twice on passenger side. This has happened on the road while moving. If cruise control is on it will stop functioning until the car has been shut off and restarted.

I was on my way back to work during my lunch hour driving on alexander St. In corpus christi Texas. That street has several dips. As I drove over one of the dips the Jeep suddenly accelerated in such a speed that I was unable to stop it and it hit a parked car. My car was approximately 10 feet from the parked car which made it almost impossible for me to avoid hitting the car. I firmly believe the accident was a result of "sudden unintended acceleration" there is no other way to explain this unfortunate accident. With all the dips on that street it is impossible to speed, additionally it is right in front of a school which has a speed limit of no more than 15 mph. If this had occurred in a different area this could have been catastrophic, fatally injuring myself and family or another human being. Currently the car is at this location: Https://www.iaai.com/vehicles/vehicledetails.aspx?itemid=21976104 this will allow you to view all pictures and perhaps it can be inspected thoroughly. Make a note of the odometer, it reads "error"!....updated 06/22/16 *

My heat shield came loose and detached at 110000 miles while driving. It was obviously resting on moving parts under my vehicle. It made a klattering rattle as the vehicle slowed to a stop where I could check out the problem. The heat shield readily came out when the rear passenger tire was removed to provide access to the part on the side of the road.

Airbag warning light goes on and off intermittently after car is started. Spoke to Chrysler/Jeep after consultation with local mechanic who identified the issue as a defective clock spring. This same issue was addressed with Chrysler/Jeep with Jeep Wrangler 2008 - 2010 which uses the same clock spring (reference : nvs-212pcor;PE11-019-August 5-2011) resulting in extension of warranty to 3 years or 150,000 miles. Jeep requests a fee of $500 + dollars to repair this issue stating there is no extended warranty on Jeep Liberty 2008 even though the same part is being used in each vehicle nor will Jeep diagnose the issue unless guarantee diagnostic fee of $120 dollars. Please advise.

Prior to accident, the sky slider leaked water into the electrical roof light compacts dropping down into gear shift. Also leaked into trunk and back seat of Jeep from ceiling. Even after repaired by dealership twice, it continued to leak water during and after rain. The automatic driver side window since leaking issues, has shorted and failed to close (go up) on a daily basis. Deep front end collision had zero deployment of airbag in front- includes during/after passenger side rollover. Only side air bags deployed. Concussion and muscle spasms resulted from accident. Body hit against steering column, head and arm against driver window and frame. Entire week of unpaid medical leave from employer by doctors order. Total loss of Jeep. Seatbelt held me in suspense while Jeep was on it's side. Although it left me with pains in hips, abdomen and legs, the seatbelt saved me from ending up in the window and glass in my skin from the rollover window glass breakage. Feels like Jeep initiated rollover upon front impact after having been stopped completely...updated 11/18/14 updated 10/7/2015

The day, July 10, 2014, started out with my wife, granddaughter and me going to the grocery store in my 2008 Jeep Liberty. We were back by noon, had some lunch and about 1:30pm put granddaughter down for a nap. About 2:00pm wife needed to go into town for an errand. She backed the Jeep out of our driveway and continued down the road going about 15 mph. The front passenger tire blows (4 tires on the vehicle bought approx. 14 months prior to the incident - Goodyear P225/75R16 Wrangler St 104S) and the side airbags deployed. Vehicle did not hit anything nor was it hit by anything. Wife did sustain a slight red bruise on her left cheek. Good thing it did not happen with all of us in the vehicle or going 65 mph on the highway. I called Chrysler customer service. Chrysler group llc conducted an investigation into the incident and inspected the Jeep. The inspection found no indication of a manufacturing defect that caused or contributed to the incident. Hard to believe that a front tire blows and side airbags deployed at 15 mph. Jeep is supposed to be a rugged off-road vehicle.

For the past three months the air bag light in my car has been coming on and off. Sometimes it will stay on for a couple days, other times it will only stay on for a couple minutes. My mother also has a Jeep Liberty and hers is doing the same thing. I do not know what triggers it to come on but typically it comes on when I am the only person in the car. I have had my car for less then 6 months so I took it in last week to have it looked at because I have heard of other Jeep Liberty having the same problem. The car dealership from which I bought my car from told me that it would cost me $459 for a new occupant restraint controller (even though I have had my car for less then 6 months and it is still under warranty). I personally believe that this should be looked into and it should be made a recall for Jeep because I have heard this complaint from multiple people regarding their Jeep Liberty.

I received a recall letter from Chrysler regarding a recall stating that "the transfer case heat shield may drop down and rub on the drive shaft, weakening it and potentially causing the drive shaft to break.". Chrysler's recall letter fails to mention what is outlined in the NHTSA letter: The first potential cause of an accident resulting from the above referenced defect: "if the drive shaft breaks, a section of it can strike the transfer case tunnel with enough force that the airbag computer will believe the vehicle is in a crash and thus deploy the airbags.". I lodged a complaint with Chrysler that they are unwilling to provide 2008 Jeep Liberty owners with alternative transportation while they "fix" the "problem". customers need to be informed about all the possible consequences and Chrysler only mentions this the transfer case heat shield may drop down and rub on the drive shaft, weakening it and potentially causing the drive shaft to break. In addition, I spoke to Chrysler "recall help desk" about whether I should be driving my Jeep or not and I was told "you've been driving your car for 53,000 miles and nothings happened so probably nothing will happen but let us know if it does." He said that the "head honchos" were meeting about the fix as we spoke. I asked him to let the CEO know that if they really cared for customer safety they would get us rental cars and that I would take the cheapest rental on the market. Would the CEO of Chrysler continue to drive a 2008 Jeep Liberty until the fix"? would he have his son, daughter or wife drive one in its present condition". NHTSA in the spirit of transparency, where is the information that tells 2008 Jeep owners how many and at what mileage accidents have occurred. I am unable to easily access this information on the NHTSA web site and am an intermediate computer user.
