In November 2017 the rear driver’s side window just dropped down into the door frame, leaving the window stuck open during windy, cold winter weather. I had to drive around with plastic taped on for 10 days while waiting for the first available appointment at the Jeep dealership. When I called to make my appointment...the service man was able to finish my sentence saying “let me guess, you have a Liberty” because it happens so often. It’s a very expensive repair, plus renting a car to get to work and get the kids to school. Then in December of 2017, the exact same thing happened again, this time to the front driver’s side window. Over $1,000 in repairs so far and I am just waiting for the next window to drop into the door.

In February the window regulator on my driver window broke, this is the first window to break and the first time happening to me. So I had it repaired by a local body shop. It cost $325.00. Fixed. I was happy and relieved to have a working window again. Little did I know what I was in store for, oh boy!

On my birthday... my driver side passenger window broke. I was devastated as its a costly repair. This time I took my Jeep to my mechanic that only works on Jeeps. I said this is now the second time I repairing a window. It cost $336.00. Fixed. One week later, broke. I don't have kids, no one is constantly rolling these windows down, its what I think normal use. I cried, I tried to go back to my mechanic, but he said he would charge me the same price to fix. I was not only upset that my window broke, but that my mechanic would not back up the work or at least have it under warranty.

So I went to another repair shop that came recommended by family, repaired the window (same driver passenger side window) fixed. It cost $355.00. And guess what! Two days later it BROKE!!!!!! So this far I have spent $1016.00 on window repairs, and $691 on a window that keeps breaking!!!!!! Now if something does break on my Jeep I don't have much for that repair because I'm repairing these damn windows. I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee as well and didn't have a problem like this with the windows. Honestly I shouldn't have to worry about window regulators especially in a vehicle that is 5 years old. I should be worried about brakes or tires... a tune up....

Anyways, the mechanic will repair the window again, but since the part is under one year warranty I won't have to come up with another $300+

And now I worry, should I even roll down that window again?? I want to enjoy my Jeep, but it shouldn't come at the never ending expense (as it seems) to replace a window regulator.

I have owned this car for not even 2 years and this is the 3rd window regulator to break. This is unbelievable as I do not have passengers in my car and rarely roll the windows down. Why is there not a recall on this as it costs $400 and up to repair. Complaints about Jeep Liberty window regulators are all over the internet, I wish I would have checked before I bought this awful JEEP!
