Patriot 4x4 Limited 2.4L

While driving my 2014 Jeep Patriot 4 x4 Limited on the highway for two hours during Memorial Day weekend 2020, the transmission overheat light,ECM light and lighting bolt warning lights pops up on the dash. I start to lose acceleration and a large whining noise starts.The jeep goes into LIMP mode. The RMP's go up as I push my gas pedal to the floor trying to get enough speed to pull over to the shoulder. I turn off the engine and wait ten minutes to let it cool down. I try to get back on the expressway but can't get it to go past 30 m.p.h. so I get back over to the shoulder, while the eighteen wheelers are honking their horns and flying by me. Very dangerous, stressful situation ! The jeep was towed to Lakeshore Chrysler Dodge in Montague, MI on 05/23/20. Nine error codes show up on the diagnostics. They can't exactly tell me what it is but charge 3 hrs. at $89 an hour, telling me it is either the transmission control module (TCM) or the valve body.The powertrain warranty is for 5 yrs / 100,000 miles and I have 50,230 miles on the jeep. The service dept. tells me this issue would not be covered anyway because this is an electrical issue. They put the TCM in and it didn't fix the issue, now ordering the valve body, Jeep not fixed yet. Total cost to me will be $2,700. I called jeep customer care, they are going to escalate this issue to a case manager and see if I can get some goodwill assistance. From the hundreds of complaints with the transmission issues,with all Jeep models from the last ten years, Jeep has to know about this very dangerous issue. Why haven't they done a recall yet ? Will it take someone losing their life before FCA issues a recall ?

Patriot Limited 2.4L V4

I purchased this 2014 Jeep Patriot 2.4L V4 CVT as a used vehicle from a Nissan dealership. The very next day I drove it on the NJ Turnpike for 2.5 hours at speeds between 70-80mph. I noticed a sudden decrease in speed and noticed a dashboard light that looked like a gear with an (!) in the middle. I assumed it was transmission related became concerned immediately. I drove the vehicle at the forced reduced speed (35-40 mph) to the nearest exit and used my phone to find the nearest Jeep dealership. They were backed up and couldn't look at the vehicle for weeks. They said to let it cool off and drive it the 2.5 hours back home at a slower speed (50-60mph) so that I could have my local dealer look at it. I called the local dealer and they said they would look at it, but the 2014 Patriot with the CVT was designed to automatically reduce the speed when the transmission overheated. I asked if it was designed to overheat after 2+ hours on the highway and they said it was designed to be more of a commuting "around town" vehicle and not meant for excessive highway driving. I just can't accept that. I contacted Jeep corporate and they want me to take to the dealer for diagnostics which I assume at my own expense. Has anyone had this issue and did you find a reasonable solution? I purchased the extended warranty on the vehicle through 100,000 miles and want to get this resolved through the warranty. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Patriot Oscar Mike Edition 3.2L 4 cyl

I purchased this Jeep Patriot less than a year ago and since then it has overheated four times. I bought the extended warranty on it from my dealership but they won't fix it at their dealership so I have to take it to a Jeep Dealership and they won't get me in until a month from now. We even tried calling any Jeep dealership around but still no one could get us in earlier.

My car only has 36,000 miles on it and I have to commute to school which is a 45 minute drive and yesterday in 101 degree temps my car decided to overheat. I had to pull off in rush hour traffic, was late to school and had to take it through a car wash and try filling it up with 2 gallons to make a full tank then the light went off but in order to keep it from doing it again in 101 degree weather mind you in my full military uniform I had to drive the rest of the twenty minute trip with the heater blasting on high and my windows down which really did nothing but made me think they did when I got to school ten minutes late I was overheated, shaking, and fainted walking into school.

I was able to drive it home but can't use the AC anymore seems like every time I put the AC on it overheats especially on the interstate. I am waiting to see what jeep does to fix this issue but I have a feeling it won't be much. Seeing as the other person who complained about the same thing hasn't seen a resolution. I WILL NEVER BUY JEEP AGAIN! I have owned a lot of different makes and models and never had such bad luck as I have with this one. I am so worried with having to wait to get it in that it won't make it until then and I cannot have this car die since besides my husbands old reliable Dodge Ram 2500 that has 250,000 miles on it we only have my Jeep right now. His dodge even with all the mileage is still running better than this plastic/aluminum piece of crap Jeep that has 1/7 of the mileage.

I know the truck could make it cross country since it just did a couple months ago meanwhile my Jeep would be broken down on the side of the road waiting for a tow. I hate this make of car and I thought because I saw so many on the roads they might be worth something but now I just regret ever trading my 2015 Ford Fiesta in for this awful excuse of an SUV Jeep decided to unfortunately put their name on.

Patriot 4x4 Sport TR 2.4L

The CVT transmission in these Jeeps constantly overheats in trips to neighboring states. Once on a trip from Las Vegas to San Diego it happened three times.

After several complaints the dealer installed a transmission cooler but this has not solved the issue. After further complaints Chrysler customer care at corporate have flat out refused to do anything about this issue. If you search the internet about this issue you will find many complaints.

My Jeep only has 24k miles and I purchased the lifetime warranty. I see now it is not worth the paper it is written on. If you have the same problem please post your experience so we can get Chrysler to FIX this.
