Renegade Limited 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 4,800 miles

Bought the Renegade new from local dealer. There was a random activation of the Forward Collision System (FCW) while driving down the highway with nothing in front of the Jeep within days after purchase and 2 more activations while exiting/entering interstate where there were overpasses (again with nothing in front of the car). After about 4K miles FCW light would come on upon starting and I would have to go to settings and turn it back on. Took it to the dealer and it was determined (through test drives by mechanics) that the FCW was not working as designed. Meaning it was not braking the car at all if there was an object/vehicle in its path. This is a safety issue and I was issued a loaner car. So far, the dealer has had the Jeep for 45 consecutive days. My Jeep has a FCA "STAR" case. However, the recommended fixes of flashing/updating software and replacing ECM did not work. Last effort to fix the issue was to replace the FCW camera. However, the camera part number listed in the parts catalog was incorrect and a different camera had to be ordered further delaying repairs. As of yesterday, the camera has been installed but needed to be calibrated. The dealer did not have the necessary tool to do this and yet another part had to be ordered. Suggested resolutions by the Service Manager have been things such as extended warranty and possible "compensation" for loss of use. However, I have not seen these offers in writing to date. I have no choice but to file a Lemon Law claim at this point.
