Renegade Trailhawk

  • Automatic transmission
  • 500 miles

I have had my Jeep in the dealership multiple times since I got extended warranty. It is not setting a code so I am told there is nothing they can do. It shifts hard almost like it slips into neutral then back in gear, feels like being hit from the back as the whole vehicle jerks forward. Finally contacted Jeep. They took the information, sounded like they cared and have been in contact with the dealership. Well the dealership is working on another problem that is being fixed but now that’s the only thing Jeep is focusing on, something that is already in the works and I don’t need them for. I have seen so many forums on the same exact issue without any resolution from Jeep. Not sure if it will ever get taken care of.

There was a recall on my motor they put a new Block in my car and put all the old stuff back on the massive hard shifting and dying doesn't happen any more it was really bad but it seems like it's coming back the kind of hard shifting that jerks you backwards a little it was doing it on the freeway like 6 times then dies and won't start back up for a while.

This Infamous ZF 9-speed transmission has not worked correctly since the 1st day I bought it new in July 2015! I took it in to Jeep Service 9 times for this issue! The Jeep service manager says, "It's working as it should." Oh, it is SUPPOSED TO WORK SCREWED UP?! B.S.!

Hard shifting, lurching, power loss, inconsistent shifting patterns, etc. Problems exist upon take-off, speeding up, slowing down & coming to a complete stop. IT IS NOT RIGHT!

My 2015 Jeep Renegade has been in the shop 6 times since January 2019. The last time said it was shifter and computer failure. I had to have it towed to dealership 29 miles away at my cost which was 400.00 because I was sold a horrible extended warranty by the dealership. I have had the thermostat replaced, the passive entry system worked on 3 times and the recall fixed as of right now. I am deathly afraid to drive this vehicle as I have heard of issues of them stalling on the freeway. I bought this car for reliability and safety and am still paying for it. The value has decreased due to all these issues and I would love to get rid of it immediately. My family has owned Jeeps since 1985 and I have never been so disappointed in the way this company has ruined and violated my trust in Jeeps.

I purchased my 3 yr old Jeep last August. Several times I have screamed because I thought I was rear ended. I was stopped and had a sudden jolt forward with a banging noise. Once in a parking garage, once at a stop sign and dozens of other times. It is a boom and a jolt. Just the car down shifting...

Renegade Trail Hawk

  • Automatic transmission
  • 300 miles

This transmission is dangerous. I work in the mountains and due to this faulty transmission, it can not figure out what gear to be in. It will consistently change gears and either surge you forward or pull you back like you just hit the brakes. Going down the mountains and the switchbacks, it would lurch me forward going down hill around a corner. It would increase my speed upwards of 10 mph unexpectedly causing me to lose control of my vehicle. It then started to shift out of gear all together and go into neutral almost causing a crash. The transmission is garbage.

When I took it to a Ford dealership (multiple times) they tell me its running the way it was designed. They are aware of the problems and I was not the only one to complain however they are not able to do anything because it is functioning the way it was designed. They can't fix the computer programming Ford created. I am trained and drive professionally and the Ford technicians offered to send someone to teach me how to drive the Renegade even though it is an AUTOMATIC transmission vehicle.

This is a known issue all over the internet. Why isn't Jeep fixing the issue? The update that they claimed is a fix, is not fixing it according to those that have had it done. Will be taking to my dealership.

Transmission does not shift correctly. Accelerating the vehicle from a stop sometimes feels like the car is going to stall out and is always jerky at any speed. Jeep has installed a number of software updates but it hasn't helped the operation of the transmission at all.

Renegade Latitude 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 11,000 miles

We purchased the vehicle in 02/2016 I would say 2 months after the transmission began shifting strange. At 3000 miles I change the oil at the dealer informed them of my concern they stated that they preformed a software update. The update did not fix the issue went back at 6000 miles another software update no fix.Went back again at 10000 miles change complained again nothing fixed. This last time I brought it back after a week explain trans does not feel right the dealer now has had it for 4 days and they state they are speaking to their tech line to see what to do about the issue.

I have explained to them that I have been driving for 24 years and I have never felt a transmission shift in this matter. I hope we can get this resolved because this vehicle is very nice.

Renegade Latitude 2.4L 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,000 miles

the transmission would shift hard and would prevent the car from pulling into traffic immediately. one time i heard a loud bang under the car and then the thing went. i took the car to the dealer where they performed 3 software updates to correct the problem. after the reprogram things shifted better but there would still be a hard shift now and again. also there was a delay between pressing the gas pedal to the car actually accelerating, it would take somewhere between 3 and 5 seconds for the car to accelerate. I took the car back to the dealer and he re flashed the software with the same revision as before & it improved things a little more, but not completely. It still has sporadic hard shifts. The question I have is if they flashed the tranny with the same revision of software why did it take 2 flashes to get it right???

Update from Dec 6, 2016: Still having transmission issues at 10700 miles. The conditions is, the car and tranny are to temp, and I'm driving 35 mph or so. I try to pass, and then left off the gas because of traffic conditions, then I press the gas again, all of a sudden BANG, the car pins you the chair and there is an audible bang that occurs. Taking the car back to the dealer again. I will keep this updated as thing develop.

Update from Jan 2, 2017: So I still have a hard shift in my transmission.

when trying to pass and the transmission to temperature, traveling speed is 35 mph, and then you stomp on the accelerator , release, then stomp again there is a loud bang and a jerk. Again the dealer tells me there is nothing wrong. I had an independent inspection done and this was verified by them as well. I'm taking the car back to te dealer again to get this resolved for good this time. the car has been back to the dealer with numerous hard transmission shift issues. all they keep doing is flashinf the transmission control module, but it does no good really.

Renegade Trail Hawk

I purchased this vehicle new in April of 2015. I love the vehicle however last month, after having 13 software updates, this vehicle starting shifting horribly....sometimes clunking upon downshifting. Also my mileage dropped from 27.9 mpg to 24.5 after the software updates. The dealer told me to change gas stations and I did....worse gas mileage than before. Not sure what to do other than try another dealer.

This piece of junk car has been nothing but trouble. It stalls when fuel tank is full, transmission does hard shifts, radio fails. The dealer already ordered transmission and radio but I tried to change the car because I do not want to deal with this piece of junk anymore.

I ended up losing on the trade in, but I just could not afford the risk of my wife driving that junk with my newborn baby.

NEVER BUY a JEEP RENEGADE, stick to the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee, the rest is nothing but JUNK.

All FIAT platform cars are nothing but junk.
