Transmission failure on a RHD Mail Jeep. Dealer sent to local mechanic to repair ($4360 later). Transmission rebuilt lasted two weeks same thing but stuck in second gear and out $750). Rebuilt transmission again and had high pressure pump failure, another $425. Replaced main computer, fuse box and still couldn't get out of second gear. Sent to another transmission mechanic and it was rebuilt again. (another $3,200) - Failed again only this mechanic stood behind his work. Rebuilt again, lasted two weeks. Bought used transmission from Salvage yard and replaced transmission. Now have engine light indicating a solenoid is having problems. Can't afford to keep missing work and paying for continuous transmission work!

Wrangler Sahara 3.8L

  • Manual transmission
  • 97,000 miles

This was a problem that I had know to look for because a dealer that I know really well had told me about it. I test drove the vehicle I bought and the tell tale sign is that it will start to slip out of first gear. Lucky for me, it did it right when we were pulling out of the parking lot and I refused to buy the rig until it was replaced. It is supposed to be a fairly common occurrence and I am surprised to not see any complaints so far on here.

Torque Converter blew out, while on the highway, I was actually heading to a local shop for a oil change when the truck became sluggish and wouldn't shift gears and the engine light came on. I made it to the shop and they hooked it up to there machine and diagnosed the Torque Converter as being blown.

The owner of the shop followed me to the dealer. At the service area I explained what had happened and a list of other problems that had been going on with the truck electrically and not starting and continually having to jump start the truck. They had my truck for a week to replace the transmission and didn't check out anything else I asked them to but offered me another appointment to check out something I had already asked them to do.

I bought this Jeep in 2008 and it has been a rough 4 years the most horrible experience is dealing with the Dealerships that never seems to want to help or make the customers happy by actually fixing problems, which in turn would keep a customer coming back.

Wrangler Sahara 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 44,500 miles

Purchased vehicle with 42,369 miles on 12/21/2011. After 2 months and 2,132 miles the transmission failed. Car would not drive. Had to tow to dealership where it was determined that a new transmission was needed. After a week Jeep was repaired and now working great.

I contacted Chrysler about the problem where they informed me that they could not help me since the vehicle was not purchased with a certified Chrysler dealership. Manufacturer warranty at 36,000 miles. I find it unacceptable that the transmission failed at only 6000 miles over the warranty and Chrysler would not stand behind their product.

Trouble with my 2008 jeep wrangler x rhd not starting. I had a parts palce test and say it ewas the battery. Spent 100.00. Next day did the same thing. Told my co worker who has the same jeep. She said push the gearshift up hard and hold then start. Tried it . It worked. If so many of us are having these problems , why is it that these things are not recalls. We bought a product thinking the 20000 plus you soend is buying a quality product. Apparently not when so many are having the same problems with the jeep wranglers. Never again!!!!!!

Wrangler X 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 55,000 miles

purchased new july 18,2008.swelling point of these jeeps is the heavy duty transmission,or so they say. I took it for the recalls and that was a nightmare. the dealer in Clarksville, Tnmakes the appointment for the specific recall issue then when you take off from work, because without this vehicle I can't do my job, they take it back then come out after 30 minutes and say , we have to order the part.just sold the last one yesterday. Then why did they tell me to come in.Incompetent!!!!!!!!This is not just me. My coworker and several others have dealt with same issues, this is not the only one with this vehicle.

They say we'll call when it comes in . They don't. I call and they say well when you didn't call we sold it ,now we have to order another one. WHAT!!! Suppose to call me.

They can't explain why my engine light keeps coming on even though I tell them that the transmission won't go into park about 2.5 hrs after driving continuously and if I have to back up or stop on an incline, no matter what degree of an incline.Took it to another dealer in Paris,tn for the steering damper recall.same deal .sold. Went back on 1-17-2011 they put that part on and said the reason the transmission is not going into drive is they think that the clutch gears are going in t he automatic transmission.I said so basically,my 2 yr old vehicle is a piece of s***!. NO he said . These transmissions aren't built for the stop and go driving of the mail route. I said that is not what Chrysler and you the dealer said when I was looking to buy it. That was the selling point.False advertising. He said ,well it shouldn't be advertised that way.A lot of good that does me . He wanted 487.00 to tear down to see if he was right then parts and labor and 2-3 days to fix it..I said no way I will wait till it craps the bed since I have to PAY TO FIX IT..It's not in warranty and I have lost money back and forth for this and the recalls.

I left and drove to Clarksville. It sounded like crap, not like it did when I drove it there that morning.Something wasn't right.

Went to work on 1-18-2011 and wouldn't you know it. broke down, wouldn't go into drive. Had to call my boss to finish my route and then deal with this. Now I am losing time and money from work while I try to find the most economical way to get it fixed, probably a rebuilt one at a cost of 2100.00plus...labor.Has anyone else experienced this problem? Help
