The contact owns a 2009 Kia Sportage. The contact stated that the hood failed to open without warning. The dealer diagnosed that the latch that locked the hood was rusted and that the wheel and the front fender needed to be taken apart in order to replace the latch. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but did not offer any assistance. The failure was not remedied. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.
