I bought this car used, and never notice this problem until my VSC light came on. I haven't asked the previous owner about this problem, but I got it checked and they said it was just the gas cap. Now I've been really cautious about tightening up the gas cap. But I can't tighten it, and I don't know why. I turn it until it clicks like 20 times, and it is still loose. This isn't a threated gas cap like the 97 Camry I use to own. I think this issue needs to be recalled and fixed, otherwise the may be serious injuries.
