GX 470 4.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 125,000 miles

The dash in our GX started cracking dash on the passenger side by the airbag shortly after the warranty enhancement ran out.. The car is great condition except now for our cracked dash. I sold cars myself for Kenny Kent Toyota/Lexus for 12 years and was always impressed with how Lexus and Toyota always took care of customer complaints. Now it has happened to me and I can't get any help on the matter.

GX 470 GX 4.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 79,000 miles

I am the original owner of a 2005 Lexus GX470 that is cared for like no other. Well, After 8 yrs and 79k miles my dashboard is suffering from the dreaded "crack attack!" This is a known issue and has occurred to many other GX's. The crack occurs in the same spot on every GX (right above the glove box). My GX still looks new inside expect for this damn crack which is very unsightly!

The cost to replace the dash (parts and labor) is around $2k! The worst part about it, Toyota/Lexus refuses to acknowledge there is a materials defect causing the problem. As a result, they refuse to help. When I buy a $50k vehicle from a company that has a reputation for reliability I DO NOT expect my interior to start cracking up after 8 yrs.

Here is a link to a post on Club Lexus where a couple hundred other owners report experiencing the exact same problem!
