problem #1

LS 430 LS V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 115,000 miles

The car was purchased used. Within a few days the left front was flat but accepted air only to go flat again in a day or two.

It was shown to us by a tire repair shop that the cause was flaking off of the factory chrome finish on the tire bead surfaces inside each wheel. There was/is no lasting viable repair for this beyond having the wheels completely refinished.

We ultimately had all five wheels replaced with new alloys - not chrome plated.

Something to look out for if considering the purchase used of one of these great sedans - it might need a new set of wheels if the factory chromies are still installed.
