problem #2

Mar 012015

MKZ Hybrid 2.0L

  • CVT transmission
  • 3,728 miles

First instance of the P340 OBD code (Camshaft sensor) occurred at about 6000km. Car is still operational however the engine became noisy (engine) under normal operating conditions.

Dealer erased the code, did a "general" inspection and off I went.

*Problem re-occurs today (2 - 3 weeks later)... Same code.

(I am logging the second instance and will update on the outcome)

MKZ Hybrid 2.0L

  • CVT transmission
  • 4,474 miles

Second instance of OBD II code P0340 camshaft position sensor.

First time general inspection did not reveal the core issue.

Symptoms: engine operates loudly (I presume sensor is operating correctly and timing is slightly off.... Wander what is causing the misalignment....)

To be continued (will report the solution...)

Update from Jun 12, 2015: Camshaft position sensor replacement addressed the problem.
