Front suspension ball joint fitting. Water may enter the front suspension ball joint fitting. Driving on roadways during the winter months in areas that use roadway salts can lead to salt and water intrusion into the ball joint causing corrosion. As a result the ball joint loosens and a rattle may occur. Extended operation in this condition will deteriorate the ball joint and the lower control arm could separate. Significant loss of steering control may increase the chance of a fatal crash. At this time we are experiencing a small rattle in the front.

Front suspension ball joint fitting: Upon either receiving or learning of the safety recall notice last year, my wife and I contacted our local Mazda dealer, ferman Mazda of brandon 9809 E adamo drive tampa, fl 33619, last year. She was told that parts were not currently available for our vehicle and that they started repairs in the northeast, before winter arrived, and we would be contacted summer (2018). The summer has come and is on its way out and we still have not been contacted. My wife called our Mazda dealership on Monday 18 September 2018, she was told she needed to bring in the notice, assuming from Mazda, regarding the recall notice. My question is: Do one need the actual notice or can one use the NHTSA recall notice to carry out the recall.

The contact owns a 2011 Mazda Cx-7. the contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16V593000 (steering); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Momentum Mazda (49811 wilkinson blvd, gastonia, nc) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for southern states due to northern states having priority. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available. Updated 11/02/17 updated 7/16/18

Manufacturer recall number: 9716H summary: Water may enter the front suspension ball joint fitting. Driving on roadways during the winter months in areas that use roadway salts can lead to salt and water intrusion into the ball joint, causing corrosion, which can result in looseness of the ball joint in the fitting. As a result of the looseness, a rattle may occur at the lower control arm ball joint. After extended operation in this condition, in the worst case the ball joint and lower control arm may separate. Safety risk: The vehicle may experience significant loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash. Remedy: Dealers will replace the lower control arms. As of date, I have not received any communication as to when the lower control arms will be replaced on my vehicle.

Recall date of August 10, 2016.I received notice from Mazda North american operations that my car is subject of this front lower control arms. To date January 11, 2017 I have not received another notification from Mazda informing me that replacement parts are available. I believe this time period of 158 days is beyond a reasonable amount of time to have made the notice for bringing in the vehicle for repair. I expect that I will be contacted to set an appointment for that repair within the next 30 days.

"takata recall" issued May 25, 2016 and we were just notified August 12, 2016. Remedy not yet available and Mazda suggest the vehicle should not be driven. We have not had an accident yet, but if we do, how can we not drive a car that we own"we have to work to pay bills. How many months, and/or deaths, until a remedy is available"
