transmission and transfer case have failed

My daughter and I had just returned from st Georgia and I heard a terrible rung, I got noise. I smelt a burning smell. E car locked up in reverse. I had to have my car towed to the. Earnest dealership, 2 hours away. The car could have locked up when I was coming over the 20. By the grace of God we are still alive. I don't know why it locked up right when we got home but it did. It was towed to the dealership. I was told for 800 dollars they would tear into the transfer case. And then the transmission was most likely destroyed. And the total cost would be 8,000. To add insult to injury they couldn't even get a transfer case until February. I a, are tired teacher living on a limited income. My CX9 only has 88,000 miles on it. I have seen sooooo many others with the same problem. Why haven't they recalled it??? I called Mazda and they are calling the dealership. This is my city car. I can't get to the store for groceries or anything. My daughter just had surgery and is Autistic. This is amazing that a company as big as Mazda would know about the Tranfer Case problem and not recall it. But because of a class action recalled all of our airbags. Frustrated, without a car, and unsure what Mazda will do to make this right. Bought my car used. It has 30,000 miles on it when I bought it. So currently I have a useless car two hours away and the company knew that the Transfer case couldn't ha Del the power of the car. I read complaint after complaint. If this would have locked up on the mountain my daughter and I would be dead.
