Had the car towed to the mazda dealer, per the technician's suggestion not to drive the car the 50 miles there. I was ready to rant about why my car was left inoperable at less than 70000 miles, right after the warranty expired.
They replaced the transfer unit along with 4 gaskets and 1 ring seal. Thankfully, this repair was covered by an extended warranty by mazda.
