broken driver seat. rear weld broke while driving- nearly cr

Driving along in my 2011 Mazda 3 Grand Touring Hatch with the nice leather seats. all of the sudden I heard a big snap and wound up in the back seat. I appears that the weld in the back of the seat on the right broke. I was very close to losing control of my car and crashing. Is that what has to happen to get a recall on this? this has been a common problem in the 2010's and the dealer wants to charge 700 bucks to get fixed. WTF!!!! Let's try and spread the word, I'm sure there's more misfortunate people out there with the same problem.
