dash separation

This year I was on the hunt for a 2010-2013 Mazda3. After looking at numerous units with a trashed interior or sketchy mechanical/underside condition, I was pleasantly surprised to find a low miles, base model that started life as a southern car. Great for a midwesterner like me to use as a commuter car.

Shortly after purchasing the car, the dash popped up. I noticed some glue had been used to try to keep it down, and I tried again. It doesn't want to stay down.

I had begun servicing my vehicle with the closest-to-home Mazda dealership. There was a service extension (not technically a recall, but it SHOULD HAVE BEEN!) that my vehicle missed the boat on by just under a year. They said I'm out of goodwill for them, but try Mazda USA. I did. They offered me $100 toward the $1000-plus repair. This was laughable! With such a pathetic defect as this and pitiful handling of the issue, I doubt I'll buy another Mazda after this one.

Looking at the design of this dash, it is a horrible engineering oversight or blunder. To either side of the area that warps, there is significant structure. The thin place across the display has absolutely no structure to hold it together. Directly in your line of sight is the worst place to do something like this.

Is there any hope for a further extension, goodwill or recall on these dashes? I honestly have to question the integrity of my air-bag system now, as the plastic that warped is compromised and it's the same plastic that is over the airbag.

WAY TO GO MAZDA!

Dashboard separated from the LCD display within three years of purchase, leaving close to an inch gap showing. Do a google search on Mazda3 dashboard separation--this is a common issue with these model cars. Mazda dealerships currently refuse to acknowledge this as a defect and replace the dash assembly accordingly.

The dashboard is separating at the instrument panel. The top of the dashboard has moved away from the area around the instrument panel and is very obvious.

The dash is separated from the area the information display at the top. I don't know how long its been that way I never noticed it until my wife pointed it out.
