CLK230 Soft Top Kompressor

Consumer care none existent. No loan car while the fault was investigated. There answer 'claim on your insurance' They don't know what caused the fire!!! Be careful if you buy a merc....... all I have left for 35.000 is a pen, part of the car is in France and some more bits in Germany.

35.000 for my fun and pleasure on a Mercedes CLK230. 31st March 2006. Car all locked up on the driveway and it decided to go on fire. After only 12.000 miles. The car got took away to a local Mercedes garage. In May I got in touch with Mercedes direct and in August they sent an Engineer out from Germany to investigate the cause. Things just don't go on fire for no reason. After 2 days the lighting cluster and speedometer where removed and taken back to Germany to go to the lab for testing. After another 4-6 weeks we where told by Director Services at Mercedes that no fault could be found!!! Even though the damage was extensive. I am not happy. Customer support generally has been next to nothing anyway from Mercedes, the only time they contacted myself was if I rang them first, not even the offer of a loan car until things where resolved. So was I really surprised when they asked me' what do you want us to do.... claim on your insurance' They wouldn't even give us a copy of the report.... To date 19th October still my Mercedes sits in the garage looking very sorry for itself. We still have not heard anymore from Mercedes except to say that when I ring them, they tell me ' the file is closed.' I don't think so.........
