I first noticed a patch of paint work bubbling on the tail gate around the fixing for the rear wiper at the end of October. I contacted the dealership who told me to call in when I was next in the area. On the 8th November I went to the dealership who took photos of the car and filled in a claim form to Mitsubishi. On the 11th November I was told that Mitsubishi would not fund the repair. I was told that there is only a three year warranty on body work but there is a five year "goodwill" period. My car was first registered on the 30.10.2006 which made it only 8 days outside the "goodwill period." The rust sure as hell did not develop in those eight days so must have been there during the goodwill period. At the moment it is still difficult to see the rust which is probably why I didn't spot it during the "goodwill period."

I have not had rust on a car since I had a 1964 registered Ford Anglia so I am disgusted with Mitsubishi's LACK of goodwill. By the way, my car has only done 21000 miles and is in immaculate condition except for the rust. I am now driving around with a notice in the rear window warning others of Mitsubishi's policy. Don't most manufacturers now give a 7 year anti-corrosion guarantee? The Mitsubishi main dealer in Barnstaple are fantastic, I just wish they would swop to selling other cars as I will NEVER buy another Mitsubishi.
