Purchased new 2014 Nissan Altima. Picked up November 27/13. From day one had electrical problems such as radio light don't come on, air bag light comes on indicating it's off when someone in front seat, key FOB keeps setting off alarm. All this I believe has been caused by a severe water leak in the roof as discovered there was no drain hose where there was to be one.
The mechanic has admitted to finding water behind the dash, under front seat, etc. He also said that there is evidence of corrosion on the wires behind the dash. In repairing this they have now left grease marks all over the head liner. I have been back to the dealer 2x and they are ordering all kinds of parts as all these problems continue. I have also noticed lately that the lights will dim just for a second indicating some kind of a short. Now the lights that light up the P.R.D.N. on the console don't always come on.
My main beef is that I believe there will be long term effects from this water damage, not to mention nothing will be the same with them changing out everything in the car to try and fix the issue. All I wanted was to exchange this car with another identical car. No. Not going to happen. Dealer claims not their problem as they are trying to repair it. Nissan although I have not got the official NO to a buy back they are also informing me they don't do buy backs and will continue to repair it. My next step is CAMVAP or small claims Court. I am worried that I could have mold issues down the road or a roof that rusts out.
I should not have to tolerate this but there is little protection out there for a new car buyer. Very sad.
