Altima S 2.5L V4

  • CVT transmission
  • 78,000 miles

Nice car with awful transmission. Transmission start noise. I showed the car to repair shops and dealership as well. All of them told me we can not repair it because the repair cost is more than new OEM transmission. The highest price was for dealership with $4500. I changed it in another transmission shop just with $3500 for new OEM transmission with 12 months /12000 miles warranty.

Altima Sport 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 8,000 miles

I had this transmission noise problem, even dealer does not know how to solve it. He changed the entire transmission. Took one week to complete. Luckily it got covered under warranty, otherwise I would have got heart attack, with the bill.

I got worried and decided not to buy Nissan, Unless I get it for free.

Under load the car shudders and moans. When you lift off the gas it goes away. It doesn't matter if it's in the city or on the highway. I searched the internet for the same complaint and found several people with the same problem. There was a TSB for the CVT transmission on the 2013's to fix the problem, but when I went to the dealer, they said it didn't apply to the 2014 model year.... (even though the problem seemed to be the same). Service said, just keep complaining every time you come in, so it would go on the record and that hopefully there would be a TSB for the 2014's eventually. Also, it runs rough when idling at a light. I test drove the model before buying and it never had these problems. It makes the car feel very cheap. I'm a commuter and it's very annoying. It's my first and my last Nissan. I just recently read that Nissan was ranked in the bottom 3 for quality issues amongst all the automaker's in the world..... Too late for me, but hopefully, this will discourage others from buying a Nissan....
