No power to wheels...transmission coolant and engine coolant mix together due to malfunction in radiator causing catastrophic transmission failure. Cost to replace radiator and transmission is $5200...research on this matter indicates that Nissan Corp. Knew of the problem and that a class action law suit coving this defect has been approved, but, the deadline to apply has passed...my truck just broke and it is now too late to register for the approved class action law suit. How can I get reimbursed like so many others have"?"

Truck begin shuttering and shifting hard. Took it to Nissan and they said the coolant had mixed with the transmission fluid and I will need new transmission and radiator. Cost about $5500. Nissan service told me the first time everything was okay. Only after I took it in the second time after I had 100,000 miles then they told me about the leak. Nissan refused to pay for any of this.

I purchased this truck from a used car auto dealer with 137,477 miles on it. Their warranty was up before I was aware I had a serious problem that got progressively worse. While driving locally and on the highway at speeds between 35 and 65 mph the truck started to shake and vibrate intermittently which caused an erratic control of the truck. After approaching several auto repair shops about the issue no one seamed to have a solution except one. They told me that a class action suit was issued against Nissan about a defective transmission and radiator combination cooler cross contaminate problem that destroys the transmission lubricate and electrical shifting functions of the transmission. It cost me $3,728.95 to fix the problem and I would like to get my money back from Nissan if possible. All post about the class action suit puts me outside on the initial settlement. Thank you

I had been noticing my automatic truck shutter before thumping into gear months before I actually took the truck into the Nissan dealers shop for analysis. When they inspected, I was told my transmission had been damage due to contamination by engine coolant and I would need a new transmission. The source of the contamination is a cracked atf line that runs through an engine coolant chamber in the radiator. This defective part and design came directly from the Nissan factory. Nissan knew about the defect and failed to notify the consumer or replace the failed transmissions @ no cost. Please advise of any recalls and results from the investigation.

I was driving my truck when it began to slip at round 45 mph. The shifting then became very hard. I looked on-line and saw websites discussing transmission/radiator problems. I opened my radiator and saw it was very milky in color. Took it in to the dealership and told that I needed a new radiator and transmission because of a known problem.

The check engine light came on while starting the truck. It was place on the diagnostic machine and the result was that a sensor in the gas tank was not working. I received a recall notice one week after the warranty had expired. The notice stated that the warranty would take care of the problem. I emailed Nissan to complain and never heard from them.

Diagnosed as a failed transmission cooler which allows coolant to mix with the transmission fluid, causing internal damage to the components. There was no warning prior to this catastrophic event - it just all of a sudden happened. The entire transmission and radiator had to be replaced at a cost of $7,000 - Nissan did not cover $3,000 of this as they said it was a "deductible" - how can you have a deductible on a design flaw?

Radiator crack caused transmission failure we have 81,000 miles on the truck so they want us to have to pay 2500+ dollars for a 6 year old truck for which we had a 100,000 mile warranty/72 month warranty and on which we paid hundreds of dollars for every major mileage inspection and service. Nothing was done to tell us or warn us of this. People will also lose resale value because no one will want to buy the vehicles. We should be compensated for the repairs and the loss of resale potential.

My transmission failed due to radiator coolant mixing with my transmission fluid. Nissan knew about the factory defect but failed to notify the consumers or replace the transmissions. Nissan was involved in a class action lawsuit and increased the transmission warranty to 10 years or 100K miles. But they required the customer to provide a co-pay of $3000 (which is ridiculous). However I noticed symptoms of my truck shuttering and thumping into gear around 95,000 miles, my vehicle had appx110,000 miles on it when the Nissan dealership officially diagnosed the problem. Furthermore, mileage should not matter because this is a "factory defect". I bought my Nissan Frontier new in 2007 and it was only a matter of time before the transmission failed due to the "factory defect". please inform me if there is any recourse/recall for this situation. Thank you.

I took my vehicle in to have the transmission fluid changed and was told that the transmission had anti-freeze contamination and could result in sudden catastrophic failure of the transmission, and that Nissan was aware of this but would take no action to repair or recall the vehicle. If this is a know manufacture defect and is resulting in catastrophic failure with potential crash, and injury potential, why aren't the vehicles being recalled and repaired?

The car was brought in for fluid changes since the car was nearly at the 100,000 mile mark. They explained the radiator had failed and caused the transmission to be contaminated. This car was brought in several times over the years and they never disclosed that this known problem can ruin a transmission. I paid $3000 to have the car fixed because I was in the 80-100,000 K mile range. This class action settlement is a bad deal for Nissan consumers. We should have been notified that that this could happen. I would have gladly paid $600 to have the radiator replaced. Its a good thing this happened while at the dealership. I understand that many people have been stranded. Nissan knows this and fails to tell its customers. This is unsafe, and I think it should be a full recall.

I parked my truck and later tried to start it and it wouldn't. had it towed to one repair shop ($45 plus $75 to the repair shop) and they referred me to a transmission mechanic. So I had it towed there ($45) and he said that radiator fluid had leaked into the transmission. I've had the truck about 2 weeks before this happened. The estimate on repairs is $3,500. Watch and see what god makes happen!

I am writing this on May 9, 2013. About a week ago my 2007 Nissan Frontier experienced slow acceleration. I put it in 1st and drove slowly for 1/4 mile then turned off the engine. When I turned on ignition, gear shift was locked. I unlocked manually and tried to start. Nothing. Engine will not crank. No lights on dash. I towed it my local mechanic who tried some electrical work. Nothing so he thought a tranny failure put truck in failsafe. Aamco could not start it so they could not diagnose. Towed it to Nissan. They wanted to change tranny for $8000 new or $5000 used. Too much money for a vehicle w/ 110000 miles. I towed it out to another transmission place and they first thought it was the starter! they changed the starter, nothing doing. Of course jump start is not working so its not the battery. Im now stuck. Previously truck had stalled once on the highway at about 60000 miles and would only drive on gear #1. took it to Nissan dealership. They said they couldn't find any problem with tranny but they replaced the transmission fluid. Later at about 101K the transmission started slipping and Nissan found that the antifreeze had leaked into the transmission. They wanted to give me $2500 toward a $7300 repair. They also offered to give me employee pricing on a new Frontier but I dont want another Frontier, so I refused and instead took it to my mechanic. He put in a new radiator and flushed the transmission. Earlier at about 46000 miles, the fuel gauge stopped working and the fuel sender was changed. Nissan refused to help at that time but later initiated a recall and compensated me for the expense. Its been all pain with this truck which I bought "new" from a dealer with only 300 miles on it. Help.

As I was parked at a service station, I put my truck into reverse and it was the same as neutral and never engaged. This is a very common, but not necessary, issue with the transmission on the Nissan Frontier. I almost blew up my engine last year when the radiator cracked and allowed transmission fluid to mix with the coolant and caused the temperature gauge to go way up. This mixture made its way to the transmission and has caused irreparable damage; undoubtedly, this is why I no longer have reverse. I replaced the radiator and flushed my transmission fluid three times last year and thought I may have fixed the problem. Evidentially, the damage had already been done. This problem is very well known to Nissan and, as a Nissan Frontier owner, I was never notified regarding this possible issue. I understand that Nissan has agreed to settle with owners within a certain mileage range; however, my truck is only 5.5 years old and exceeds the mileage requirement because my occupation requires alot of highway time which has put alot of miles on it. I feel Nissan needs to step up and take care of this problem with all owners of these vehicles before someone gets hurt or killed if it hasn't happened already. My truck is now rendered useless until I pay thousands of dollars to fix it. This should not be my problem at all!!
