Maxima SL 3.5L V6

  • CVT transmission
  • 5,300 miles

CVT temperature display on the dashboard does not indicate any level on the first cold day (below 50 degrees) of the year from startup through driving for 20 minutes. Not sure if this is normal or not.

Update from Oct 24, 2016: Thank you, Steve G. for your response...Nissan and the Nissan dealership report this time delay problem is normal and that in colder weather it takes longer for the cvt to reach the trigger temperature for the cvt temp display to actually appear on your dash

Maxima SR 3.5L V6

  • CVT transmission
  • 1 miles

The temperature gauge for the transmission doesn't always work. Sometimes I can drive for 40 minutes and then it registers (by way of the orange bar in the center of the display). I reported this problem to the service department and they seemed to think it was normal............any comments on this?

Update from Jan 5, 2016: I offer my apology. My Nissan dealer explained that the gauge measures transmission temperature which is why it takes soooooooooooooo long to register. Hope I didn't cause anyone unnecessary worry.

Update from Feb 3, 2016: shame on me....forgot to update my complaint which isn't a compliant at all. Apparently the transmission takes a while to heat up and the gauge works perfectly after that. Sorry Nissan

Maxima S 3.5L

The area where the orange display bar (located on right side) that should show the CVT temperature level goes completely blank at times. Bad cvt temp sensor? Bad software? Bad screen display? Bad calibration?
