Murano 6-cyl

  • 70,000 miles
My 2004 Nissan Murano has a defective driver-side sun visor problem. It keeps falling down and will also not stay up. This is a safety issue because when I am driving the vehicle, the visor will flop down without warning and cause me to become distracted, which could cause me to have an accident. Also, if I put it down, it will not stay in the position I place it in. I believe this is a defective part in the Nissan Murano. I have noticed on the internet that many people have been complaining about this issue and that Nissan refuses to cover this under warranty or under a recall. There was even a Nissan auto technician who anonymously admitted that this was a mechanical failure because he has to replace the visor part on many vehicles he has worked on. Can you do anything about this?

Dear sir, we own a 2004 Nissan Murano that we bought new in may of 2004. The vehicle has performed great over the years; however, we do have one very important safety issue with the Nissan Murano which is the driver's side sun visor. As you are driving, the sunvisor will drop down blocking the view of the roadway. I have also spoken with another Nissan Murano owner who stated that she has experienced the same problem. Also, I ran an internet search for "problems with a Nissan Murano sunvisor" and discovered numerous blogs submitted by individuals who have experienced the exact same problem with their Nissan Muranos. I strongly feel that this issue needs to be investigated before someone is very seriously injured or perhaps killed because they were unable to see the roadway.

My Nissan Murano has a defective driver side visor. It constantly falls from the "up position" into drivers vision. This caused an accident!!! I was traveling downhill on a snow/ice covered road, I hit a bump and the visor fell into my vision I reached to put the visor back into the up position. Pushed it into place and it immediately fell again I pushed it back up(distracting my attention from the road in front of me) and noticed a car stopped in the middle of the road, I swerved to miss the stalled car, I avoided hitting the car but as I swerved I ran over black ice the car got sideways and hit a concrete barricade.

Nissan Murano 2004 -- sun visor on drivers side is not staying up. As I am driving ( sometimes with my kids) the sun visor drops down blocking my view. This is a big safety issue and I'm surprised no one has been injured or sued Nissan for this. I have noticed many other people have the same complaint. The dealer wants $400 to put in a new one -- when this should never happen.

I have a 2004 Nissan Murano. Both driver's and passenger's sun visors fall to the down position when the vehicle hits a bump or when the brake is pressed. This can cause a safety hazard as it obstructs my view while driving. The cost to repair or replace the visor seems absurdly high especially when I look at several forums of Murano owners having the same problem. I now drive with my hand holding the visor in the "up" position which is also a hazard because I have to drive with one hand in order to see without the visor falling. I have researched the web and saw several Murano owners have the same problem. At what point or how many complaints do you need to receive in order to recall the item" does someone need to get into a serious accident or notify the media to seek action"

The vehicle has performed great over the years; however, we do have one very important safety issue with the Nissan Murano which is the driver's side sun visor. As you are driving, the sunvisor will drop down blocking the view of the roadway. This is the third time the part has become defective. The first time, the vehicle was under warrant; the second time, we paid for the new sunvisor; and now, the problem has returned. We have contacted Nissan concerning the defective sunvisor and we are currently awaiting their response. The drivers side sun visor on my 2004 Nissan Murano keeps falling down even with the simplest bump on the road while driving. This happens all the time. We put velcro on it and it has not worked. Took the car to mossy Nissan and they said it would have to be replaced for $400. This is very dangerous while driving and could definitely cause an accident. The price to replace is ridiculous.

Drivers side sunvisor on a 2004 Nissan Murano while driving the vehicle, the sunvisor falls from its upright position to the down position, thus blocking the driver's field of view, causing a major safety concern. Nissan has issued a service bulletin (#03-081A) covering these visors, which shows that they are aware of the problem. However, they will not stand behind their product to remedy this situation without charging the consumer in excess of $400 - $500 to repair it. There has not been a wreck yet, but its only a matter of time when the driver cannot see. We have been to the service dept on numerous occasions, but they will not fix the problem. This problem happens constantly while driving.
