Murano SL

  • CVT transmission
  • 86,992 miles

A ten year old car with only approximately 140,000k, should not experience transmission failure. The cost of CVT repairs is unacceptable, especially given that Nissan has had a plethora of problems related to the transmission. It is a dangerous issue that could result in accidents, and caused me to be stranded for several days due to the complexity of the repair and the fact that few mechanics want to work on Nissan transmission, coupled with the cost of repairs.

Murano LE 3.5L Litre

  • Automatic transmission
  • 119,455 miles

Transmission failed.

Transmission would stop pulling at times and it was a safety hazard to drive on road.

Update from Jul 15, 2023: I had to have the transmission replaced. It was during the supply chain problem, and I had to wait weeks for a car! It cost over $5000 to have my transmission replaced.

Murano SL 3..6

  • CVT transmission
  • 180,560 miles

I brought my Nissan Murano into the dealer to get Air Filter, Oil Change and Transmission Serviced, this past Saturday, 8-13. I got the bill paid it and left. The next day, I am noticing jerking in the car when I completely stop, and when starting to accelerate again, the cars jerks into gear. On Thursday morning, 8-18-22, on my way to work I noticed an excessive amount of jerking and rumbling when I stop the car. When I started the car, I pressed the accelerator to drive and it took approximately 1 minute before I got up to speed.

I took it to the dealer and the dealer says that my transmission is slipping and about to go. This is the third Nissan I have owned and the second one with a transmission problem. 1. Is there a constant problem with Nissan's transmission? 2. Is there a recall with the 14 Nissan Murano? 3. I read a site that said they were only build to last up to 180,000 miles... is that true? Why would it be limited to last to a certain mileage?

Murano

  • Automatic transmission
  • 116,000 miles

We were driving out of town for the holiday weekend and the car begin to hesitate for about 2 hours on and off. We then started hearing a wearing noise and then it would not accelerate more than 40 miles/hr. We then had to pray we made it off the highway and waited 2 hours for a tow truck to arrive. It cost us $85.00 to tow car to Nissan dealership who then made us wait more than 24 hrs to diagnose the problem and proceeded to tell us, because the 100,000 mile warranty was extended and the car is over the 100,000 miles, it will cost us over $5,000.00 to fix the problem. My husband then negotiated a 15% discount. We were told we would have to wait till after the holiday to have the care repaired.

Big inconvenience because here we were out of town (5 1/2) hrs away from home and then had to rent a car to complete out trip and return home. Almost a week later we received a call from the dealership stating the part didn't come in and if we wanted to come get the vehicle, we could take it to a different mechanic for repair. We received 2 call stating that. My husband called them back and said we are not sure why we would come get the car and do what with it exactly? He then said they received a call from the supplier and was told the part would arrive the following Wednesday. This would be on 9/15/21. At this point we are 9 days without our car. Needless to say a huge inconvenience for 2014 Nissan Murano we thought was a reliable car.

Murano SL

  • CVT transmission
  • 120,000 miles

The transmission would start giving out at high rate of speed for over 20 miles. It was okay to drive in town speeds but 70+ is when it would act up. The dealership told us to replace transmission. This problem with the Nissan CVT is very common.

Murano SE V6

  • CVT transmission
  • 61,000 miles

Only 1K out of warranty and had to FIGHT with Nissan to cover a new replacement CVT transmssion. In the end, they did pay for it.

Now, Aug 2020 having issues again that Nissan cannot replicate. Car feels like it goes over 'rumble strips' when coming out of a tight turn (i.e. parking spot, backing out of driveway). Nissan North cannot find the issue.

Murano LX 3.5L V6

  • CVT transmission
  • 120,000 miles

This is second CVT transmission we have had in 2 Muranos owned. No explanation of what to do differently from Nissan in Tennessee and no help with repair.

This will be the last Nissan we will ever own...and we have owned 4 till now. No confidence in this brand.

Murano SL 3.5L V6

  • CVT transmission
  • 62,000 miles

We were traveling on vacation from Connecticut to South Carolina, when we arrived there, the engine started acting strangely and eventually the car would only move at a crawling pace. Took to dealership and they told us the transmission had to be replaced. Car was at 62,000 miles (2K miles outside of warranty).

Murano SL 3.5L V6

  • CVT transmission
  • 75,500 miles

We had transmission issues at 62,000 miles and needed to have transmission replaced. Had the transmission replaced at a Nissan Dealer on 8/4/18... The replacement transmission came with a 1year/12K warranty from Nissan. Then at 75,500 miles, the same thing happened. The transmission gave out while we were driving. Took it to the dealership and was told that while it was within a year, we were around 2,000 miles past the 12K warranty of the replacement transmission. It is costing us $4800 to replace the transmission again. There is something wrong with these transmissions. It is obvious from all the complaints Nissan gets on all their models.
