I absolutely love Nissans and I love my Murano most of all but I'm strongly considering changing my next purchase as this is the second Nissan I have owned that the paint has chipped and is slowly spreading throughout the car. I'm absolutely disgusted with the lack of desire for the local Nissan dealership to make this right. I have always spoke highly of Nissan and the type of vehicle they are but I'd be nervous to ever suggest or purchase another vehicle through them.

Horrible paint that didn't adhere. Should be a class action lawsuit like the Rogue. $45k car and the paint lasted less than 4 years.

Purchase the car brand new. Paint started chipping within the first 18 months (fender & top on passenger side). Dealership did some touch up painting only on the spotted area. Car now has pealing paint on the hood, top, back. I love the dealership, as well as the salesperson that assisted us when we brought the car. Unfortunately I will not buy another car thru Nissan again.

When I realize the paint is chipping, I went to Nissan repair and the manager told me that he can fix for about $400. I explained to him that the paint chipping was all over the car. He told me that road damaged which I don’t believe. If it was road damaged, it would be just the front not all over the body. I think it’s unfair to buy a new car and Nissan doesn’t take responsibility to fix the car at free of charge which brings your car value down. This is my first time getting a Nissan car and I am not impressed at all.

I bought this car in June of 2020. I have not had this car for 2 years, less than 14,000 miles. Went to the dealership to get a Certified preowned car, also have a CarFax. Not going to write very much, just thinking about this raises my blood pressure. I went to the dealership, Orangeburg, SC for service and was told maybe I am washing it with the wrong solution, just sell the car to them and size down so that my payments will continue to be small. I am retired, I don't wash my car, I have it washed. I spent good money for this car, made a good down payment and now you want me to size down and just give you the car. NO!

I have seen several reports on this problem, it appears that the thickness (using this term for lack of the scientific term) of the paint when applied to this car was not at the correct level in the factory. Therefore, the paint is not holding and in several spots it is now flaking off (and appears to be bubbling off) there is air under the paint. There are more important things going on in this world than my car paint; however, it does not seem that way to me. Whoever does quality control in this particular factory has made several mistakes. Never worked in quality control, but if it is not done right, the customer suffers. Nissan should fix this problem, at Nissan's expense.

I was a return customer at Hudson Nissan, Rivers Avenue, Charleston, SC. I had a 2011 Black Armada. Other than this paint job, I did not have any problems. However, this looks very bad. I am not shy telling anyone who ask about my problem with this car and the dealership. I will continue to talk about this problem. I may not buy another car, but I promise you that all of the cars that I now see with this paint problem will hurt your with any future buyers.

paint chipping

We bought a new 2017 Nissan Murano in the fall of 2017. In November of 2019 my husband noticed a paint chip spot on the hatch. Through a VERY long process the hatch was repainted by Nissan on a financial forgiveness. Now we have 2 more places chipping on the Murano, one on the driver side hood and one on the front driver fender. My husband first noticed it Jan of 2021 and I have been trying since then to get answers from our local Nissan dealership, NO ONE has contacted me about the paint issue. I have called and emailed to no avail. I finally called Nissan Consumer Affairs, he looked over our case and said they would not cover the issue.

First of all, I know the car has 85,000 miles on it but seriously a 2017 to have two paint issues!!! Second, I was told by the company that painted it the first time that the primer did not seal. Not sure if they checked the whole car or just fixed the hatch and be done. Hello, check the whole car, not just one spot. Third, I know we are not the only ones to have this issue. Nissan needs to step up and take care of the paint issue.

We bought a new 2017 Nissan Murano late fall of 2017. November of 2019 my husband noticed the paint chipping on the hatch. Nissan gave us a financial grace and repainted it. Yes, the car had over 50,000 miles on it at this time, but seriously the paint should not be chipping on a 2017 brand new car. This was the first time the Murano chipped.

paint chipping

I went to dealer on 4-30 2021 at Pat Fisher Nissan Titusville. I talked to collision manager and he admitted while Nissan failed with tri-coat paint peeling and it is a factory defect. I'm waiting for call back from Fisher. I will update - the car is out of 36 month warranty but under 36,000 miles. I bought an extended warrenty for over 2000.00, but it doesen't cover paint.

Update from Aug 18, 2021: dealer repainted hood looks like new no other problems

paint chipping

I bought a pre-owned 2017 Nissan Murano in March of 2020. On May 1st, while washing the vehicle, the paint began to peel for no apparent reason. In researching on the internet, it appears that this is a common problem with Nissan...the paint is thin which is the cause for peeling at such a young age of the car.

I contacted the dealership that I bought it from and they said there is nothing they can do about it. I contacted Nissan Consumer Affairs and am currently waiting to hear back from them. I find it ridiculous that consumers spend so much money on cars believing that the product is worthy only to find out that the product and the companies that produce them are both shady. Nissan needs to do better!!!
