The Pathfinder shutters at low speeds (10-20 mph). Took it to dealer and they could not reproduce the shutter. The dealer told me to bring it back when it starts getting worse. I'm just afraid it will be out of warranty!

THE DAY AFTER I PURCHASED THE PATHFINDER, I NOTICED THE PROBLEM OF THE HESITATION AND BUCKING. IT HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES. THEIR RESPONSE IS THAT IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM AND THERE ISN'T ANYTHING THEY CAN DO ITS JUST THE TYPE OF TRANSMISSION AND ONCE MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON OR IT LEAVES ME STRANDED THEY CAN DO THE TSB. WHAT??? IT ONLY HAS 2,000 MILES AND HAVING TO DRIVE A CAR THAT VIBRATES SO BAD MY AIR FRESHENER FALLS OUT OF THE VENT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. THIS IS MY FIRST NISSAN AND WILL DEFINITELY BE MY LAST!!!

Pathfinder Platinum V6

  • CVT transmission
  • 16,000 miles

We purchased our 2014 Pathfinder last June. During the process I had concerns about the CVT transmission but went forward with the purchase as we loved the car. About 6 months after purchase we began to notice a surging feeling at low speeds. We have had the vehicle into the dealer once in March (I think) already and they reprogrammed the computer to supposedly fix the issue. Well, let's say it's not fixed. My wife is taking the car back to the dealer today as the shaking / surging is still there. This is most prominent at around 25 MPH with the overdrive OFF. The entire vehicle surges and shakes. This is not acceptable. I am hoping the dealer will truly fix this issue as we are leaving for a trip to the mountains next week.

Pathfinder S

  • Automatic transmission
  • 8,000 miles

Took the cars in several times and they kept telling me they could not duplicate the problem. The service department did get the car to do it, then did a reprogram and shortly after the car started doing again. Took back and they said couldn't get it to do it. So finally started doing it worse, then took back and they replaced the transmission. I am not happy!! I didn't buy a new car to have to go through all these problems.

Pathfinder Platinum 3.5L V6

  • CVT transmission
  • 1,500 miles

I bought this car January 6, 2014. The test drive was short and on pretty flat terrain. The car drove well under those conditions, but soon after I bought the car, I began to notice a sluggishness at low speed (10-20 mph) when the rpm's where @ 1000 to 1500. Quite often I would feel a slight jerk and sometimes hear a pop at slow speeds, especially if I was on an incline. By the time of my first oil change at 3,000 miles, the problem was getting to be more frequent. I reported the problem to the service manager. He had a tech to connect a computerized test device underneath the steering column and ride with me on a test drive. We only had to go to a parking lot across the street from the dealership, where the car stutterred and jerked violently at low speed. They reprogrammed the transmission and called it good to go. A few days later the same problem began to reappear. I took the car back to the dealership where we went through the same test procedure as the first, but the problem did not immediately reappear. Again they called it good to go. I continued to experience intermitent trouble, always with jerking, shaking and popping plus loss of power at low speeds. To make this story shorter, I will try to get to the bottom line. The original transmission was replaced at 7,000 miles. Metal shavings were found in the cvt fluid of the first transaxle, as it is called on the service report. The second transaxle was worse than the original. On a trip through the Smoky Mountains, the problem was even more evident than ever. I doubted that we would make it back to Mississippi without being towed. After the dealership again tried reprogramming, the second transaxle was replaced at 14,000 miles. Again, the cvt fluid was dark and the service department staff suspected metal shavings in the cvt fluid. I am now driving on transaxle number three. I am at 22,000 miles and this transaxle is doing better than the two previous ones, but it is not without failure and has been reprogrammed. It is hard for me to believe that Nissan will allow this, obviously defective transaxle, to be placed in any of its vehicles again. Nissan should make this problem go away quickly or discontinue making the Nissan Pathfinder.

Pathfinder SL V6

  • CVT transmission
  • 29,000 miles

I bought the Pathfinder in August 2014 with 20,000 on it. It was a fleet car sold by Moses Auto. Since then I had to have the transmission completely replaced TWICE. I don't know whether or not to ask for another car or just deal with this. I think 2 new transmissions in 6 months is a bit unreasonable.
