A complaint brake failure while merging on to a highway is nerve-wracking enough but when Nissan fails to acknowledge the safety hazard this problem posed it makes it even worse. I was able to stay in the slow lane with hazard lights on and get it home before the brakes completely stopped working; at first it was very hard to press them and then I could not press them at all. The SUV was towed and at a dealership for 10 days. The original dealership (Sheehy Nissan in Waldorf, MD) failed to respond to my phone calls informing them of the incident nor did they return my calls about the buy-back program. I dealt directly with Nissan Headquarters and after replacing the power brake boost assembly and vaccum the vehicle had a bumpy ride; the solution was to replace all 4 tires and tire sensors. The SUV still does not drive the same as it did coming off the dealership parking lot and now I have to constantly worry about brake failure again. Nissan, after filing complaints with their headquarters and the Maryland Attorney General's Office, finally gave me a 75,000 mile warranty (free) and an "inconvenience cash settlement" of $1,000. They never acknowledged the safety hazard and the fact that I and my passengers could have lost our lives and caused a major accident injuring or killing others. The Nissan Rogue is a beautifully made vehicle with all the bells and whistles one would want so I'm hoping my issue is a fluke. One would hope that a brand new vehicle had all the necessary inspections to allow it to cross the assembly finish line but now this makes me wonder.
