I went to the grocery store. Came home and shut the car door, and the sunroof exploded.

My 2014 Nissan Sentra was parked in my sister's driveway. When I went out to move it, I found the moonroof had shattered. It looked as if it were pushed upward from the inside. No one was near it, nor did anything fall on it - it was whole one minute and shattered the next. I don't like sunroofs - I never even used it, other than opening it when I bought the car to see if it worked. I am taking it to a Nissan dealer to see if they'll fix it as I feel it's the company's fault for using defective glass.

sunroof exploded

I drove to work and parked the car. It was fine. 4 hours later I went out for lunch and sunroof was broken. Our lot is secured with cameras. We watched the tape and nobody approached my car at all. There were no rocks or anything inside the car. Looks like it was broken from the inside out, because the glass is bowed up and out instead of down and in. So now I have a huge hole in my roof, and its freezing outside of course.

I got up yesterday morning went to car and my sunroof was shattered. There was no reason for the break. No limbs or rocks are anything that could have caused this damage. It looked like it exploded from the inside because it was pushed up on the outside of my car. Before this happen there was nothing wrong with my sunroof. It's just like it exploded for no reason.

sunroof exploded sunroof exploded

Was getting in my car to go to work. When I closed my door the sunroof exploded. When I got out my car to take a look I couldn't believe it! Maybe it was because it was so cold, but searching online it seems to be happening to a lot of Sentra owners.

There needs to be a recall before a serious accident happens because of this. I'm waiting in the service center now at Atlantic Nissan in NY. I will not be paying a penny for this because this is a serious defect in the car.
