My Pontiac G6 is reportedly recalled for a faulty power steering system. This system has been faulty for at least a year with a warning sign displaying on my control section of my car. I also experienced a power steering loss last November 2013 on my way to work and I could not turn the car without using lots of physical force which terrified me, at the time. I did not know of the G6 problems at the time and I took it into my auto mechanic after work but the problem was not showing when he examined it. It does not appear all the time and I only lost power on the one occasion. I contacted a Pontiac representative over a month ago and completed the questions he asked. They were supposed to notify me when the replacement parts arrived to fix my vehicle. I have not heard from them and I worry every time I drive my vehicle that it will lock up again.

You turn the steering wheel and the column makes noises and going down the road the wheel on passenger side feels like it is shaking...I took it the shop and he said it would do no good to change the column because it would go bad in a few months these cars are known for that...and sometimes when I turn my key to start the car it is like it stays on like I'm trying to start it and I'm not touching the key then it goes off.

GM has stated that there is a recall on all G6's from 2005, however I have contacted GM and they say my car is not under the recall. My power steering has had issues since about a month or two after purchasing it from a dealership that told me it had been safety inspected. I want to have my car fixed, but it costs about $700 and GM wont fix it. What do I do?? in Michigan winters, the power steering is the last thing you want to have problems with, especially when transporting my two year old son.

I was coming to a stop at a stop sign and heard 3 dings and then lost my power steering. A message also popped up on my radio screen stating power steering. I am thankful that this happened while only going maybe 5mph if that, if I had been going any faster this could have been a terrible accident.

I was driving the vehicle, and the power steering just quit. I had to pull it off into a parking lot and wait for my father to come look it over. He found nothing wrong and started the car, and it worked like normal. This is the 2nd time this has happened in the last 2 months.

While I was driving on hillsdale blvd, (citrus heights.ca) preparing to turn left to enter a parking lot designed for sacramento works-one stop career center, suddenly, my steering wheel locked up, exactly: Became in less than a second, very tide and unexpectedly hard to turn like I was trying to turn a metal round bar/pipe or metal object weighting about 200-300 lbs. I was frightened and shocked and I pulled the brake pedal (thank god I did not have any driver behind my vehicle ) yield to vehicle from the opposite side incoming traffic, pulled hard to enter that parking lot and after I left the busy boulevard(thank god was not a traffic time as between 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M/) and slowly but hardly parking the car. Thank you for considering my concern here !

I was driving from philadelphia pa to baltimore Maryland. Upon stopping at a light before entering the highway, my steering wheel locked and I could not steer the car. As per ( April, 2014) this is still happening today. I called General Motors, they told me there was no recall on the car and should be taken in for diagnostic testing (that I have to pay for). This car has been nothing but trouble, it's dangerous and continues to lock as I am driving.

My problem first started when trying to park, the steering was very hard. Then the next time I was at a stop sign and was unable to turn. Then yesterday I was driving around 45 mph and lost control of the steering. I almost had an accident. I had the steering replaced about 3 weeks again at the cost of over a thousand dollars. Could you tell me if there are any recalls or lead me in the right direction on where to go from here. Thank you in advance,

"power steering" flashed on the radio with a chime then the power steering failed and could not turn the steering wheel. My wife almost hit the neighbors daughter on a bicycle just coming out of the driveway to turn onto the street. Due to mileage on the vehicle (159,000), GM states that it does not fall within the parameters of the warranty therefore not covering the cost of repair. This situation should be a full recall, regardless of mileage!!! the electric pump never should have been built inside this car!

I was driving home from work on the interstate and the power steering light came on the dash. The steering wheel locked up and I could not steer my vehicle. Thank god there was no accident. I had to stop in the middle of the interstate with cars going as fast as 80mph. I turned it off and when I restarted it I had to turn the steering wheel very hard and pull my vehicle to the side of the road.I see tons of complaints online. Why isn't this being recalled? this car is unsafe. Thank god my child was not with me.

I was just leaving work when I heard a chime and I looked at my dash board and noticed a yellow car with a wrench in it. I then felt my steering wheel lock up and became hard to steer. I then looked at my radio and it said power steering. I had to drive 6 miles home with no power steering. I knew I could still drive with this problem but knew it was going to be difficult. I then figured out that there was no power steering fluid with this type of vehicle and was electronic. Very dangers and very hard to make 90 degree turns but made it home safe.
