G6

Last Month my hubby and I were driving down the HWY with our 2 kids in the back seat. Well my 2 year old decided he was going to reach around and unlock the back door and open it while driving! we were told our car had all safety features when we purchased it in 2007, we had no reason to use the child safetly locks until this happened, so we went to turn them on, well to our surprise there are no child safety locks!! We contacted GM and they sent us on a wild goose chase basically... we finally went back to our original point of purchase (GM sent us back telling us we were sold an incomplete car) and told them our problem and what was going on and what GM told us. So the service manager put alot of time into this and researched it, come to find out that there are indeed some G6 cars that are not equipped with child safety locks unless you have the Lock out power windows and doors (we have the lock out power windows), even though it says in the manual that we have them on our car!!

This is a HUGE issue!!!! my child could fall out of the car!!!! Im very concerned! so I asked how much it would cost to get them put on and they cant even be installed on this car!!! WTF!!!! so here we stand unable to get a safety feature (that should be on all cars) put on our car.... unable to buy a new one because we still owe on this one...

I leased my car on Oct 2005 being told fully loaded with child proof safety locks & everything. Not even thinking to check for child proof safety locks to see if they were actually there since they are mandatory to be on & the doors have power locks. Anyhow as I was driving along the highway with my 3 yr old at that time, he reached over to lift up on the lock on the door & opened the door. My son was tall for his age. Anyhow because my son wasn't hurt & my car never had any damage done to it there was nothing I could do about it. I thank God everyday that know one was hurt do to this. I contacted GMC & the government to have a recall done but no luck there because they have no other complaints. Also I have my car to 3 different dealerships belonging to GMC & they're couldn't even believe that the child proof safety locks weren't on my doors & they too had to convince GMC as well. So it was clear to me that they had no idea that the child proof safety locks weren't on my doors. I contacted lawyers but it will cost me $100 per hr & I would be looking at many hrs because they would have to do a lot of work & going up against a big company like GMC. So this is why I'm letting everyone know about no child proof safty locks on my car & to check you're car to see if you are missing the locks as well. I hope knowone has to experience what I did that day.
