G6 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 78,293 miles

Caused me to lose control on some ice and sliding into a snow bank. Not hard enough to set off the air bags, but even without visible damage, its still over $1,200.00 to fix. Not covered under the recall list. And going through my insurance will make it sky rocket, so.....guess it's yet another out of pocket expense. Thank you GM for yet another wonderful job. So explain why cars cost so much when they can't even build them right in the first place....STAY AWAY!!!! DON'T BUY!!!!!

I had a problem with my G6 starting about 6 months ago and just ignored the steering wheel pulling to the left. I had to really keep some pressure on the steering wheel to the right so it drove straight. The problem was bad but the car was driveable and since I am unemployed, no cash to fix it.

Well, I finally got a job and looked into fixing it. The dealership told me it need a completely new steering column and some other random parts and the price was $1393 to fix it. I thought with only 60K on the car that was bullshit. I looked on this site and found this phone number:

1-800-620-7668

This is Pontiacs phone number. I called to see if there was a recall that I didn't know about and just to complain NICELY about the problem. HAVE your VIN Number ready.

After talking to the rep, I was given a case number and he said they were sending it to the regional manager who would call the dealership to talk about my problem. After only about 30 minutes on the phone over 3 days my bill was lowered to $737.64 for everything!! It was called a goodwill gesture. We did a 60/40 split. I was happy for the discount and the dealership was really nice about it all. If you want to save money call this number: 1-800-620-7668

Wheels are in alignment, Power steering just pulls wheels to left when engine is started. continues to pull when moving.

Update from Jul 15, 2010: Power steering pulls to the left as engine is turned on. Steering wheel will pull left as car comes to a completed stop.

Im sorry I bought the car. Bought it brand new. After 6 months started having problems with the car. I had a tire that started bouncing, thinking I needed new tires I bought 4 brand new tires. Still didn't fix the problem. Thought it was out of line. Took it to get it lined up and was told that the lower ball joint in the front end needed to be replaced immediately that I shouldn't have even been driving the car. Took it back to the dealer ship and they said that it was the r. pinon? They supposedly fixed it. and the dealership said the aligned the front end. BULL SH*T!!!! 2 weeks later the car is still pulling to the left. Not for sure that the ball joint was even fixed or that they even did what they said they did to the car. I even had to have the hub replaced on the right side. Im getting rid of the car.
