Such a beautiful vehicle yet it continues to throw up new problems at least once a month. Back in April I noticed that the rear floor was getting soaked behind the drivers seat as well as behind the passengers side seating area. The first hint was of a nice layer of condensation inside of the car but I passed that off originally. I drove the vehicle to the dealer and they “fixed” the problem only to have it come back three months later… DO NOT BUY THE COUPE! You will regret that decision forever. GM knows of the water leaks already but potential buyers do not know of the impending pain and frustration that awaits them.

As I said in my other complaint I sent you, I got the car on 08/05/2011and the sunroof broke on 08/09/2011. I returned it to the dealership I got it from so they could repair the problem for free.

purchased the vehicle late in 2006. noticed the seat belts smelled like mold after a rain. I started to pull the belts out and clip them when it rained to keep theim dry so they would not smell. Finally got tired of this so I pulled ot the back seat and found 1/2 inch o f water under the back seat. I took the car into a Chevy dealer and they pulled the head lliner down and found that Pontiac had shortened the drain tubes on the back of the sun roof which made the drains come disconnected. Therefore draining into the back seat. GM has made extensions for the tubes at a cost to the owner.,This problem has been present in the G6 since they started making them but Pontiac knows they have a problem but wont admit it. 250 dollars later I hope the problem is fixed. No wonder people are driving foreign cars.

leaking sunroof

When I first purchased my brand new G6, I was excited. The car was fast and sexy..everything I wanted. After 3 years of happiness and a then, expired extended warranty, everything went wrong...my passenger side seatbelt was soaked every time it rained and the carpet in the backseat on the passenger side was wet. It began to smell...I was embarrassed to let people ride in my car. I remembered that there was a recall for the sunroof a year before so I decided to take my car into the dealership for service. The night before I took it in, I took the picture attached. So sad...

Sitting at the service department, the mechanic quoted me $450..WHAT? $450.00 to fix the problem..something about re-routing the tube in the sunroof..I mentioned the recall...Oh, that was for another problem. Wow? The mechanic ended up taking about my car :( and I was out $450.

Don't get me wrong..I love this car but, there has been so many problems once the warranty expired.

Whenever it rains, my driver's side seat belt gets wet. I took it to the dealership once to have fixed, which they did, something about a hose. Very annoying, and smelly to boot. I have to "fix" the inconvenient part (the wet, the smell), by pulling the seatbelt all the way out and wrapping it around the seat, using the center console lid to help keep it in place. That way it dries, and if there is rain coming, to keep it from getting wet.

3 year old car and the very cool but faulty sunroof is falling apart - literally. The rivets are falling out of the device that attaches the window panels to the mechanical device that opens and closes it. There are pieces of the mechanism falling on to my head while I drive, and the dealership (Star Pontiac) picked out loose pieces of the mechanism and then dropped them back into the mechanism (never to be recovered - sure to cause more problems). It opens and closes, but that won't matter much when all of the window panels are scattered about Route 78, will it? I have to pay for repairs for this stinkin' problem!!!??? The dealership, the warranty company, or GM should step up to the plate and accept some responsibility for the poorly manufactured product.

G6 GTP 3.9L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 300 miles

Car manufactured without drain tube connections sealed and/or tightly attached. Leaks run into seat belt shoulder pully, on to the rear passenger windows and down into rear carpet and seats. Wet seatbelts, seats and carpets resulted every time there was any rain at all. It leaked driving it home from the delivery on Day 1. Four return trips needed to fix both sides. final solution was to outsource repair to auto glass company for sealing and connecting tubes and body channels. Car was gone for three days for the last fix. Out of service a total of 10 days for water leak repair.
