The contact owns a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start. In order to get the vehicle to start, he would turn the ignition to the start position and wait for 10 minutes before turning it back off and then on again. The failure recurs intermittently. The vehicle was not taken to be examined for the cause of the failure. The failure mileage was 54,000 and the current mileage was 66,000.

-the contact owns a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am. The contact attempted to start the ignition, the engine failed to start. When the ignition key was turned to the acc position on the ignition switch the engine would start after waiting for a period of ten to twenty minutes. The failure occurred on five separate occasions. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. The technician was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The failure and current mileages were 132,000.

Passlock problem. Car will often fail to start. So far turning the ignition to the on position for ten or fifteen minutes does temporarily solve the problem. GM/Pontiac states that they can replace the passlock for about $600.

Car was at gas station and wouldn't start. Had it towed to shop and they said the passlock code failed. They stated the ignition switch and the ignition lock cylinder needs replaced. Well I replaced the switch and nothing. So I called a dealer and they stated that the sensor in the lock cylinder has went out and needed replaced. So I have ordered the lock cylinder it was $160.11, the switch was $60 dollars. The shop wanted $900 dollars to repair, ill do it myself.

Vehicle keeps shuting off and will not start). Took vehicle to dealer three times, but problem was not fixed. Consumer vehicle took to another dealer, and to other mechanics, they would not fixthe problem. Theytold consumer that the problem was with the manufacturer, and consumer had to take it to the deale. The source of the problem still has not been found or fixed, the vehicle's securty light comes on, and if consumer shuts off vehicle then the vehicle will not start, consumer believes vehicle was in accident before consumer purchased it used from dealer.

Car has failed to start on 4 separate occasions. First three times quickly fix worked, turning key to on position for 15 minutes then restarting vehicle. Called dealer and they told me there was nothing they could do. 4th time car wouldn't start after 2 tries with the "quick fix". nothing has been done by dealer or GM to resolve this issue. Faith in Pontiac products is rapidly declining.

Car has not started on four different occasions. The first about a year ago. The last three were within the last two weeks. All within one week. The starter cranks the engine, but the engine will not start. On the first incident the "quick fix" worked. That is turn the ignition switch on for 15 minutes then try again. The car was driven to dealer but no problem found. The last three times the car was towed to dealer. All three times no problem found. The ignition switch was replaced on the second occasion, the crank sensor was replaced on the third, nothing replaced on fourth. Dealer says they understand our concern.
