I have been having issues with the electrical systems in my car for the last 1-1/2 years. When I turn on the car the dash lights/headlights/radio/windows and heater/ac usually won't work right away. While I am driving, they will pop on or off depending on the bumps on the road. Six months ago, the "security" light on my dash started to give me trouble. Apparently, the car sometimes thinks that I am not using the correct ignition key and won't start. I now have to budget an extra 10 minutes into my drive time everywhere I go on the chance that the car's security system needs to reset itself (I had to find the "fix" to this issue on youtube.com which another GM car owner posted, since there was nothing remotely helpful about it in my owner's manual). I went to a dealer to get the insert to my keys and it has not solved any of these problems. My biggest fear is taking my car on highways since these issues still exist, and I am deathly afraid of the possibility of the key moving out of the "run" position and stopping completely which I am aware has happened to other GM vehicles that has caused accidents and fatalities.

I have brought my car September 2013. I started having problems in July 2014. My car wouldnt start with the first turn. But I would try again and it starts. So one day driving down the road it stalled on the highway. Never started back up. The mechanic said it was the fuel regulator and oil pressure gauge which he changed. I still had the problem of not starting on the first try. I found out I had a recall on the ignitions switch which was finally changed. I received a letter after the recall was completed. But the recall said it was an electrical switch and they only fixed the key ring. I thought they would change the ignition switch. Now my car still doe the same and mechanics are stating they can not locate the issue. I can be driving down the road and it will stall on me. I need to get this resolved before the hazardous roads conditions are among us.

I am the original owner of this car and after my lease ended, I purchased it. As of a few years ago, I signed it over to my daughter. As she was driving it, all dash instruments went out, then on, then off. Sometimes it wouldn't come on at all. Eventually we discovered by bumping the dash, everything would come on.as this became a real issue, I called around and was told that the dash instrument cluster was bad, so I purchased a new one. Installed it, and found out it happen again. I sent it in for repair, got it back, re-installed it only to see the same problem. I then purchased a used one, ,,,,same thing. Finally decided that it might be the ignition switch. Replaced it and problem solved. I opened up the old switch and found it was all shorted and corroded. My issue is that Oct. 2014, my daughter just got a letter of that defect to get replaced. All that time she was driving it, anything could have happened not to mention all the money and time it cost me. 11 years later. Why was GM aloud to hide the defects that long putting safety of drivers and passengers at risk" they new of the problems and ignored them. I'm pissed and rightfully so. I just got a letter on my 2005 Cadillac Deville for the same issue, 9 years later. All GM ignition switches are bad!! where were you people all those years and what took so long to get something done ?? I blame you too. Maybe your organization needs a shake-up also. Oh, on my Cadillac, the dealer just reprogrammed something and never changed the switch and I was told it will be ok now ???? what ??" and, my daughter traded in the Pontiac. You people need to quit slapping these big companies on the wrist. Don't tell me that 9, ,,11 years, it took to realize a defect. Somebody allowed this to happen. I am a former GM employee, retired, 30 years. Let me tell you how screwed over I got by them. Enough said, .

Tuesday, 24 Apr 2007 1500 hours after workday ended, I-25 southbound at Colorado mile marker 104 right lane, weather partly cloudy with partly wet roadway, the Pontiac Grand Am 2003 I was driving at 55 mph started front drive shaking. The vehicle ran off the right side of the highway and rolled one and one-half times in the borrow ditch. Upside down restrained by the seat belt, I noticed the Pontiac's air bags had not deployed and the engine was not running. After unbuckling the seatbelt, I, with a scarred forehead, climbed through the drivers side broken out window and exited the vehicle. The Colorado state patrol arrived, investigated, had the vehicle towed to the salvage yard, and sent me to the local hospital, an outpatient for the forehead scar. 3 July 2014 NHTSA recall 14V400 and GM recall N140350 unintended key rotation for my 1999-2005 Pontiac Grand Am.

I've been having trouble with the ignition switch. Without warning the car will not start, and the security light comes on. After having it towed to a mechanic and 170 dollars latter I was told it was the ignition switch. It comes in two parts and no one know which part it needs. I've seen two other mechanics since, same story. This month finally, the Pontiac Grand Am was added to the recall list for the ignition problem, ,,,my model and year. No one can tell me yet if my car is or is not one of the cars being considered for the recall...this recall is on the Pontiac Grand Am 1999- 2005....mine is a 2003. Please help me find out if this car is safe to drive. Thank you

I was driving the vehicle on a freeway at 65 miles per hour. With no warning, the engine stopped. Luckily I was in the right lane and could coast onto the shoulder. I tried to restart the vehicle, it would not start. I called for help on the roadside and waited for assistance. The vehicle was sitting for about 10 minutes. I crawled under the vehicle and knocked on the gas tank. I tried to start it again. It started fine. The vehicle has also not started on a separate occasion after sitting for about 6 hours. We have owned the vehicle less than a month.

Parked car to shop. Upon returning, car would not start. Had towed and was told it was safety switch for ignition. During this time a clicking sound would emit periodically from the ignition or turn signal assemblies. Had ignition assembly replaced. Worked for a while and then December of 2013, clicking sound reappeared and hasn't stopped.

The dash is peeling and rolling up it has broke all the vents and has pushed the trim around the speedometer/ rim et down and off. My airbag light comes on often and it is a concern for the passenger side airbag that is starting to push up the cover. Starting to have electrical problems due to it pushing pressure on the fuse boxes. I also have it pushing on the door allowing water to run into my car at the fuse box speaker and into my floor. I see this problem in several other vehicles with the dash. These problems are a safety issue and should be addressed and fixed by GMC before a failure to one of these systems and cause injury or death.
